Lifetime Sponsors First Paddleboarder, and He is Only 10!

It is quite common in the wild world of outdoor sports, for companies to sponsor up-and-coming paddlers.  Lifetime has just taken on the sponsorship challenge.  As you may have read in my earlier blog about our Lifetime Hooligan Youth Stand-up Paddleboard, we found a Utah local who is sure to make a splash in the paddleboard world.

We would like to introduce you to our super kid, Mac!!  He is only 10 years old but is quickly becoming a master of Stand-up Paddleboarding!  Mac’s dad, Gary, is a long-time surfer and has bestowed his wisdom and skill upon his son.

Mac has been entering paddleboard contests around  Utah, and has been blowing away his competition!  He recently placed 1st in the Weber River Paddleboard Race and the Jordenelle Reseviour Paddleboard Race. Congratulations, Mac!  His Dad says that everywhere he goes, people tell him that Mac is the next big thing in paddleboards. The best part, he wins these competitions on either the Lifetime Hooligan or the Lifetime Freestyle XL!!  Many of the other athletes have $3,000 paddleboards!! Yikes!  Who needs an overpriced board when the Lifetime Paddleboard is so affordable, efficient, and fun! (The Lifetime Hooligan is only $249 at Sports Authority.)

Check out these pictures of Mac at his competitions and stay tuned for more updates and pictures of our paddleboard prodigy!

Position at Lifetime Products- Watersports Marketing Manager for Lifetime and Emotion brand kayaks

How long at Lifetime Products- Since January 2012!  I came as a packaged deal with the acquisition of Emotion Kayaks where I’d been for over a year.

Topics I blog about- Events and news in water sports, places to kayak, and enjoying the outdoors with friends and family.

My favorite products from Lifetime- Any of the Kayaks and paddleboards.  One of these days I’ll get my hands on a Fold-up Trailer and a Camp and Tailgate Table!

On a Saturday afternoon you can find me- This question will always depend on the season!  When the weather outside is frightful, you can find me at one of the nearby ski resort enjoying the fresh snow and crisp air or snowshoeing through the mountains.  Once the sun is shinning and the birds are chirping, my Saturdays are spent outdoors hiking, backpacking, biking, paddle boarding or my most favorite activity of all, kayaking!  All while enjoying the company of good friends of course!

My favorite escape- Anything whitewater, whether it be kayaking or rafting.  A more relaxing escape would be taking my camera out into the wilderness to photograph everything from wildlife to serene landscapes.

30 Years Later
When I was a little girl, my Grandpa made me a very special keepsake gift...a handmade wooden dollhouse, complete with shingles cut from sandpaper. Well, just like a real house roof has to be replaced about every 20 years, evidently so does a dollhouse roof! Afterour four moves, (ok, and 30 years of sun damage, dust, and wear-and-tear!) the dollhouse roof was about 10 years past its prime. The sandpaper shingles were curling up and literally falling off. My Dad and I have been wanting to replace them for several years now, but we've just never got around to it whenever he came to visit from out-of-state. This weekend my parents were here and it was a cold, rainy weekend with not much to do. So, my Dad and I FINALLY started the dollhouse roof replacement project. My Dad's father was the one who originally built the dollhouse...
How to Host A Road Rally Scavenger Hunt
Looking for a fun summer party idea for adults? Try hosting a Road Rally Scavenger Hunt! I've participated in three different Road Rallies and they are a blast. So much fun! It's a great way to explore some new sights in your hometown and feel like a kid again. So, what is a Road Rally Scavenger Hunt? Well, it's a little bit like the reality TV show "Amazing Race". Teams drive around in cars following clues, complete tasks and challenges, and try to be the first to team to the finish line. Depending on how creative the race coordinator is and how competitive your team is, the more fun you will have. Be sure to always go over the race rules with all participants before you beginof which the most important one should be to drive safe and obey all traffic laws! Each team is given an envelope with a clue to start the race. You ha...
Family Fun with the Kayaks!
I had a family reunion a couple weeks ago. This is not your typical family reunion with cousins youve never met, let alone seen, before. My extended family is very close-knit and (I hope its safe to say) we all look forward to the DFR (aka Dixon Family Reunion) every year, truly. My dad and his two siblings take turns planning it each year. This year was my Uncle Brents turn, so we went to Pineview Dam near Huntsville, Utah. I have about 20 cousins in the age range of 28-35. They all have spouses and, on average, 4 kids each; so our family is pushing close to 60 people. The kids range from brand new babies to 16 years old. As you know, Lifetime acquired the kayak company, Dragonfly Innovation, back in February. I bought two of the blueCalypso kayaks and decided Id take them up to the lake and see what kind of reaction they g...
