M-I-C-K-E-Y T-A-B-L-E

Yes, the title of this post should be sung to the tune of the chorus of The Mickey Mouse Club theme song...you can thank me later for getting that song stuck in your head all day.  :)

I can't believe it!  My little baby girl is 2.  Seriously, where did the time go?  The days go by soooo slowly (with all the whining, screaming, monotonous routines, etc.), but  yet the years go by sooooo quickly.

We celebrated with a Minnie Mouse birthday party on Saturday with a few family members and friends.  I decorated while Alyssa was napping so she was completely surprised when she woke up.  It was so heartwarming to see her huge smile when she saw all of the Minnie Mouse decorations!  "MINNIE!  Party!  Ready to party!," she shouted while bouncing up and down.  So cute!

It rained for two days straight (unusual for Texas), but thankfully it stopped Saturday morning so we were still able to have the evening party outside.  Shew!  It's a lot easier to have 10 kids running wild and eating black frosting in my backyard than in my house!  I usually have the kids sit at our kids' picnic table, which seats six.  Obviously, this year, I needed a little extra seating. So, I set up our Lifetime Personal Table and set it at the lowest height.  It was the perfect picnic table extension!  It ended up being like one long table which was so nice because all of the kids could sit together.  We have two little plastic Adirondack chairs that I tried using as seats at the Personal Table, but they were too short for the kids to reach the table.  So, I ended up pulling out some more folding chairs which worked just fine.  Yes, you will notice they were some of those small, cheap folding chairs rather than Lifetime chairs.  Wait!  Before you jump to conclusions, I have a legitimate reason for not using my Lifetime chairs with the Personal Table.  It's because I was using all of my Lifetime chairs at my Lifetime 4' folding table since I needed extra seating for the adults , as well!  See?!?

All of the kids had a great time at the party, especially the birthday girl.  We were exhausted after all the chaos, but seeing the smile on her face made it all worth it.

And, yes, in case you are wondering, I made her Minnie Mouse cake, with some artistic help from my husband.  It's always one of my traditions to attempt to make a homemade birthday cake for my kids.  My frosting techniques aren't exactly professional, but if I do say so myself, this year's cake turned out pretty darn cute!  Minnie's face only had a few "wrinkles"...but, hey, she's like over 80 years old anyway, right?! Party!!!

@Lisa Brown,

Congratulations on the family! Little girls are especially fun to throw birthday parties for!

That's the good thing about birthdays, you don't have to enter to win one, they usually come around once a year! All you've got to do is send out some invitations a couple weeks ahead of time, make or buy a cake, grab some candles, set up your Lifetime Table and Chairs (though I've heard other brands might work, too ;) ), and plan some games. Easy!

Take some pics of the next birthday party you throw and let us know how it went!

Thanks, Jenn!

I was pretty pleased myself with how it turned out! :)  Here are my tricks in case you're interested...I used a 9" cake pan for the face.  For the ears, a 6" cake pan was ideal, but too expensive for a one-time use, not to mention hard to find.  So, I improvised and used my Longaberger cereal bowls which you can also bake in...perfect size!  The bow looks like frosting and many kids thought it was...but it was actually a giant plastic clown necktie from the dollar store that I painted pink.  :)
