Here in the water sports department we often get asked, “Do I need to wear a life jacket when I kayak... even in flat water?”  It is a good question, and it has a really important answer - YES. Almost all of the US states require you to have a life jacket with you when on the water, no matter the water conditions.  The details will, of course, vary state to state. The key is you should always have a life jacket when heading out for a paddle whether in your kayak or on your paddleboard.  More importantly, you should always be wearing your life jacket when you are paddling.   It is easy to brush the PFD (personal flotation device - aka lifejacket) off as a non-essential but it is just as important as your paddle and kayak.  You never know what could happen out there and it is alw... Whether you’re new to kayaking or you’re a seasoned veteran, you know one thing about the sport of paddling - it’s fun!  As Lifetime Products grows as a company and we, the water sports division, grow as a category, we want to make sure we make our mark in the paddlesports industry.  To keep us moving in the right direction, we’ve come up with some brand-spanking-new logos to bring the fun and excitement of the sport to each and every kayak we make.  The water sports community is fun, energetic, and unique, we wanted a logo that represented the quality Lifetime is known for, yet exhibited the upbeat environment found throughout the kayaking industry.  And here you go! The new Lifetime watersports logo is an abstract representation of a kayak in water with elements of fun and advent... More

Every summer, my church plans some sort of camping/boating outing for many reasons but mostly to have fun and enjoy each other’s company. This year was no different. We ended up on the hills of Heber City at Heber Valley Camp. Knowing I worked for Lifetime, I had several requests to bring kayaks for our day at the lake. So, I checked out the trailer with 12 Lifetime Monterrey Kayaks and we spent all day Saturday paddling around. Needless to say, Lifetime kayaks were a hit! I heard nothing but positive compliments about the boats. Many people were amazed at the stability of the kayaks. A lot of people who had never tried kayaking expected the kayaks to feel like canoes that can tip with any sudden movement. But, they’re not! Kayaks have a much wider, flatter hull than a canoe so they are a lot more stable – ... More

It is quite common in the wild world of outdoor sports, for companies to sponsor up-and-coming paddlers.  Lifetime has just taken on the sponsorship challenge.  As you may have read in my earlier blog about our Lifetime Hooligan Youth Stand-up Paddleboard, we found a Utah local who is sure to make a splash in the paddleboard world. We would like to introduce you to our super kid, Mac!!  He is only 10 years old but is quickly becoming a master of Stand-up Paddleboarding!  Mac’s dad, Gary, is a long-time surfer and has bestowed his wisdom and skill upon his son.  Mac has been entering paddleboard contests around  Utah, and has been blowing away his competition!  He recently placed 1st in the Weber River Paddleboard Race and the Jordenelle Reseviour Paddleboard Race.&n... Many people don’t know this, but Salt Lake City, UT is currently home to one of the largest Outdoor Industry shows in the world - Outdoor Retailer!  And for those of you not familiar with Lifetime’s home base, we are only 30 minutes north of Salt Lake. So lucky for us, this show is smack in our backyard. While we did attend this show last year, we went bigger and better than ever this year! The show began for the Water Sports industry on Wednesday, August 1 at the Open Air Demo held at Jordanelle Reservoir.  Jordanelle Reservoir is a beautiful venue for a demo day, especially since it is in such close proximity to the show and to infamous Park City, Utah. We took all of our current Lifetime Kayak models out so retailers and potential dealers from all over the world could give our boats a ... Stand-Up-Paddleboarding (SUP) is one of the hottest new trends in the water sports world. Over the past few years, it’s gone from a small time activity to a huge, world-wide phenomenon. Last season we unveiled our adult paddleboard, the Lifetime Freestyle XL SUP. This season, we wanted to make sure the whole family could enjoy this new and rapidly growing sport. We scaled down our adult paddleboard, added some new features, and made the Lifetime Hooligan SUP  - a fantastic youth paddleboard that fits a wide range of younger paddlers. The Lifetime Hooligan was designed to be extremely stable and easy to use. We wanted to be sure those first-time jitters could melt away once the paddler realized how stable and safe this board really is! This board also incorporates a cutting-e... Our water sports team is constantly trying to improve our current lineup, as well as design new innovative and stylish kayaks.  We looked at our popular Daylite and Lotus models carefully, put our heads together, and out popped the Lifetime Monterey!  The Lifetime Monterey Kayak is the newest addition to our kayak family, but it still has many of the great qualities of its cousins, the Daylite and the Lotus. The new Monterey is 8’ in length and 29.5” wide.   We have added enhanced tracking channels to the bottom of the kayak which will help keep the kayak from turning side-to-side with each paddle stroke.  It will also allow the paddler to go a greater distance with less effort - who doesn’t want that?!  As with all Lifetime kayaks, the Monterey is extremely stable an... Happy Memorial Day!  From all of us here at Lifetime, we wish to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to all of the men and women who bravely serve, or have served, our country.  It is because of your courage and sacrifice for our country's freedom that we are able to celebrate today. Today is a day many of us celebrate with barbeques, parades, shopping sales, and fun with friends and families.  However, may we all also take time to reflect on the true meaning of this day.  We also wish to extend congratulations to Michele A. of Kingstown, RI who is the lucky random winner of our Lifetime Payette Kayak giveaway!  Thanks to everyone who entered.   If you are looking for a fun way to enjoy the water this summer, you can find the entire line of Lifetime Kayaks and Paddleboards a... Every year, the Lifetime sales and marketing team attends an internal Sales and Marketing Conference.  This year, things were a bit different. We had 30 kayaks and paddle boards to test paddle at Sand Hollow - one of the most scenic reservoirs in Utah. It is exhausting just to think about…..exhausting in a good way, of course! To kick things off with our kayak training a few weeks ago, we began with a training clinic and question and answer period. Many of our employees are just like you -  they are a beginner or are just getting into the sport of kayaking.  Our more advanced staff members were excited to help out as well. This was exciting for me as I love to share my love of paddle sports with anyone who will listen…….or paddle. :)  I discussed paddle t... Win a Lifetime Adjustable Soccer Goal
This giveaway has ended. Riddle of the day: Which Lifetime product is 8ft tall yet can easily fit in the trunk of a car? Well, actually, it was yesterday's riddle. We posted this riddle on our Facebook page and said if you could figure it out, we'd give the product away. Lucky for you, some (actually a lot) of our fans figured it out! Although we do make 8' tables that fold-in-half to fit in a trunk, technically, they are 8ft long rather than tall. Same with our kayaks. (Although that would need to be a really big trunk!) And, obviously, the Lifetime 8' sheds can't fit in a trunk. So, that leaves the Lifetime 8' x 6' Folding Soccer Goal. Fall soccer season is here (and Christmas is only two months away) so we are giving away a Lifetime 8' x 6' Adjustable Soccer Goal which conveniently folds for easy transportation and sto...
Bouncy Good Time!
Last year was a great year for me. I got married in September, and am loving this new adventure! Our wedding day turned out just the way we wanted. It was perfect. Although my wedding day was the best day of my life, we ended up having a pretty great time the night before as well. My husband and I are both pretty laid-back, casual people. So the night before, instead of having a formal dinner or a fancy rehearsal party or reception, we ended up just having a big bash with family and friends at my parents house. I dont think many people can say that they had a huge bouncy slide, snow cone machine, and childrens bouncy castle at their wedding party! But we did, and it was a blast! Although people ended up with sore muscles, plastic burns, and scuffed knees, everyone sure had a great time and I wouldn't have changed it for anyth...
