So, a few weeks ago, I wrote about our decision to buy a Lifetime Portable Basketball Hoop - Model 90228.  Well, it's assembled, up, and the kids are loving it.  When the box arrived, the kids couldn't wait for us to put it together.  The cool thing about Lifetime basketball hoops is even though it's a pretty large product, it's actually packaged all in one box.  Granted, it's a big box (size varies slightly depending on the size of backboard you buy).  But, it easily fits in an SUV and probably in the trunk of most mid-sized cars.  By the way, did you know Lifetime actually invented packaging basketball hoops in one box?  Really, they did! Back in 1992. It may seem like a novel idea now, but that invention made it so basketball hoops could be sold in mass retail markets like Walm... More

One of the great things about working at Lifetime Products is our people. We have a great group of engineers in our Sporting Goods department. Last fall, we were trying to come up with a way to make our basketball system backboards more like the pro boards. With some late nights and a lot of design work, we were able to come up with our new Clearview backboards. What is Clearview? Well, I am going to tell you. With residential systems it is common in the industry to have a backboard brace behind the square target of your backboard. On these systems we use a clear material called polycarbonate or on the higher end systems tempered-glass to make them look like the pro's. However, the backboard braces were blocking your view through the backboard. We wanted to remove the braces behind the target so there was a clear view more ... More

Cute house.  Nice yard.  But, something's still missing.  Take a closer look. Yes, our big three-car driveway is just screaming for a basketball hoop!  Don't you agree?  :)  As some of you may know, my husband is a pilot in the military and we have recently moved - again.  This time to beautiful Colorado.  I'm thrilled to report that after 12 years of working for Lifetime in some manner, we finally have a house that has a driveway perfect for a Lifetime basketball hoop.  It turns out that finding a great driveway to play basketball is the easy part.  Now, we have to decide exactly where we want to put the basketball system, whether we want an in-ground or portable system, and what model and features are best for us.  First things first.  Location.  ... Now that you've had some time to assemble that new Lifetime Portable Basketball System you got for Christmas, let's cover a few important things that every basketball hoop owner should know.  (Yes, that means this is important for you to read even if you aren't a brand new basketball hoop owner.) Portable basketball systems are convenient. You can purchase a Lifetime Basketball System and be playing basketball the same day. However, when you assemble a portable basketball system, it is important to always follow the manufacturer's instructions very carefully.  And, that means right down to the final instruction about filling your portable base. I have seen lots of systems with weights, bags of cement, or bricks on top of the base to hold it down - like in these pictures. This is a big "no-no" and very dangerous.&nb... More

It's a new year!  The end of 2011 wraps up the end of our 25th corporate anniversary year.  And, it also means we've concluded our 25 Hoops for 25 Years Giveaway.  We announced our final winner today!  (Yes, a little late, but per the rules of our giveaway, winners had 14 days to claim their prize. One winner at the end of December didn't claimed her prize so we had to draw one more winner!) We hope all of you enjoyed the ongoing giveaway as much as we did.  We are proud to have invented the first quick to adjust basketball hoop that tranformed the game of basketball by bringing the game home to driveaways across America - and now across the world!  The giveaway was our way of thanking all of you for helping make our past 25 years such an amazing adventure. Congratulations to all... More

Can you make 121 free throws in a row?  We know someone who did!  During the Dick’s Sporting Goods Store grand opening event in Layton, Utah, we had a customer at our booth make 121 free throws in a row to set the record and win a Lifetime Basketball System! We also had a child make 95 free throws in a row.  Pretty impressive numbers. The free throw contest was just one of the many activities Lifetime sponsored at the new Dick’s Sporting Goods in Layton, Utah during its grand opening the weekend of September 16-18.  Since Dick’s Sporting Goods sells our products, they invited Lifetime to take part in the celebration.  This was a great community event that brought out hundreds of people in our local area.  The three-day event started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday mor... One of the coolest things about working for a manufacturing company is that I get to make products that people love and use in their everyday lives. Having our headquarters in Clearfield, Utah gives Lifetime the opportunity to use our products and resources throughout the community. I am always happy when we can help someone out. We recently had the opportunity to do just that. This basketball story below is from our friend Anthony, from the Department of Corrections facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am grateful to Anthony for sharing this experience and hope they are enjoying the new basketball system! “I bought a hoop in 2002 for our officers to use as a way to get in some exercise while at the office. We had no idea at the time it would transform into what it did. We used the hoop for some great interoffice ... More

Lifetime's 45th Semi-Annual Company Meeting
When coordinating Lifetime's semi-annual company meeting, I can get caught up in the details rather than appreciating the meeting for what it is. This past Saturday, as I peered from behind my laptop into a sea of more than 800 blue 25 Years Lifetime T-shirts, it hit me. Our semi-annual meeting is a unique program one of the few times each year when people from all shifts and departments gather together and hear company updates, see new and upcoming products, and take part in Lifetimes Profit Sharing program. But Ibelieve there is more to this meetingthan what meets the eye... In the 45 times Lifetime has held this meeting, and the years that I have had the pleasure in taking part, I have come to realize what it means. Its our commitment to producing high-quality products. Its our drive to continue to grow profitably maintaini...

Lifetime Employees Build New Hiking Trail
Last Saturday, September 10, 430 of my fellow co-workers and I spent three hours constructing a brand new walking and biking trail in Ogden City, Utah for Lifetimes 6th Annual Local Community Service Project. Each year, Lifetime employees work off the clock and donate their time with our group community service project, earning credit toward Lifetimes bi-annual employee benefit program that gives a percentage of the companys profits to each employee. Since Lifetime is celebrating its 25th corporate anniversary, this year we are increasing our efforts and actually undertaking four separate beautification projects on two separate days. This past Saturdays trail building was our first project and the second project will be held this Saturday, September 17, and will include clean-up of two parks and cemetery beautification in W...
