This giveaway had ended. Spring is finally starting to show up and give us hope for a warmer world! It's funny how by late Fall I am tired of yard work, but by Spring, I am itching to get out there and pull some weeds. Like for many of you, it seems to me that the yard projects never end. This season, we at Lifetime are excited to announce another innovative product to help you get those yard chores done. The Lifetime Garden Caddy. Here is how my typical time working in the yard is spent: I go to my Lifetime Shed and pull out my Lifetime Wheel Barrow. Then I climb, fall, and otherwise search for the tools I am going to need for my project throughout my shed. To carry them all to the worksite I put them in my wheel barrow usually losing the shovel or other tool along the way. Finally ready to work, I empty out the tools ... More

I’m excited to talk about our new shed that we have been busy working on over the past few months. We have designed a new size with some fresh new features. Through customer research, we learned that you, our awesome consumers, like the width of our 8-foot wide family of sheds, but some of you just don't have the space for a deep shed like our 8x10 or 8x12.5. This new shed is 8 feet wide and 6 feet deep! The shed also has a new look with vertical siding and windows in the doors. It has corner trim to make the colors pop and look good in your yard. We’ve also added a skylight that runs the full depth of the shed to allow natural light in so you can more easily see your stuff. Also, this new shed comes with shelving to help you organize your bug spray, weed killer, and whatever else you want to store. With our... More

With winter in full-swing, that does not mean you need to quit composting. Composting in the winter and cold temperatures is still possible with these helpful tips: Keep your composter in the sun as much as possible. This is probably the same place you have had it all summer, but with the angle of the sun changing as it does during the winter, you may need to take another look and adjust the placement of your Lifetime Composter. For winter composting, keeping your compost a little on the dry side may also help. This can be achieved by modifying your typical brown versus green ratios to a little more heavy on brown. Moisture in the compost mix is necessary but too much will freeze and slow down the helpful composting bacteria, or put these bacteria into hibernation. So, a touch dryer during the winter is better. Mass: Wi... More

Squirrels, and mice, and bears - oh my!  Several of you who entered our giveaway this month mentioned that you would like your next composter to be pest-proof.  Well, good news!  All Lifetime Composters are already pest-proof!  That's right.  We've made it difficult for little pests to climb onto Lifetime Compost Tumblers by raising them off the ground.  Our lids securely latch tight to keep the pests out and compost in.  And, the double-walled, high-density polyethylene shell prevents rodents - and even bears - from making holes in Lifetime Composters. Yes, I said BEARS!  Check out one of our previous blog posts that shows pictures from actual customers who have had their Lifetime Composters survive bear attacks! So, we can happily check "pest-proof" of our list for our next composter... More

This giveaway has ended. It's composting season. Yes, technically, every day is composting season. But fall, in particular, is a great time to really build up your compost. You can add the leaves you rake up in your yard, the dead plants from your garden and landscaping, the wood ashes from your fireplace, the rotten Halloween jack-o-lanterns, and your kitchen scraps - including most of those unwanted leftovers from Thanksgiving dinner! So, today we are starting a giveaway for a Lifetime Dual Compost Tumbler to help get one random winner off to a great start with fall composting.  The Lifetime Dual Compost Tumbler is one of our newest members of the Lifetime composter family.  It features two 50-gallon bins to efficiently and continuously batch compost. Simply fill one bin with co... Over the years, we’ve told you about how our blow-molded products are made, and how our metals are powder-coated to protect them, but how does the whole process work, anyway?  I certainly didn't know before I started working for Lifetime.  But, here at the Freeport Center, all your products begin from scratch.  When I was first hired, I had the chance to tour the entire facility. And it was probably one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.  No kidding.  Did you know that in our blow-molding facility, our High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plastic starts out as beads that are pumped from the trains to the building silos?  The beads are melted and poured into the blow-molding forms. When the formed part comes out, Lifetime employees remove excess plastic and prepare them for a... More

We are overstocked on our Lifetime kids putty colored picnic table, so throughout the month of August we will be giving them away with the purchase of any Lifetime shed from buylifetime.com. That's a $100 value for FREE! If you've been considering a Lifetime shed as a solution to your storage problems, now is the time to buy. Because Lifetime sheds are constructed from steel-reinforced polyethylene plastic, they last longer and require less maintenance than wooden or metal sheds. They don't fade, warp, or split like wooden sheds, and they don't dent or rust like metal sheds. Simulated wood looking panels, simulated shingled roof, and shutter accessories makes Lifetime sheds as attractive as your home! We offer many models with windows and skylights to provide interior lighting as well as a variety of shelving options to ke... More

When we decided to give away a Lifetime 6' Picnic Table this month, we thought it was the perfect time of year since it's summertime and the popular July 4th picnic season is just a few weeks away.  But, guess what?  We learned from your entries that a lot of you would use a Lifetime Picnic Table year-round! Of course, those of you who live in warm climates will use the table outside all year.  But, a lot of you who live in colder climates said you would still use your picnic table by folding it and carrying it into the sunroom, the basement for a sewing table or laundry table, or even store it but unfold it for extra dining space during the holidays.  The convenient folding feature of the Lifetime Picnic Table definitely makes it a very versatile product. Congratulations to David C. of Riverton, UT. &nbs... More

For this post, I want to write about our new Lifetime 50-Gallon Composter. Loyal blog readers (if there are any of them out there) know that Lifetime offers a variety of composters. These composters make being green easy, help provide beautiful gardens, and potentially save the planet. Yep, composters are pretty much modern day superheroes. Well, maybe that is a little extreme, but they are pretty cool. Lifetime has been in the composter manufacturing business for about five years now. I remember when my boss came to me and said he wanted to develop a composter for mass market retail. I have to admit, I thought his brain might have started to compost. I didn't think mass market retail was ready for compost bins. After all, they were only for people who lived completely off the land in rural USA, right?  Boy was I wrong.... More

Lifetime's Annual Service Project 2010- Park Beautification
This pastSaturday, October 9,Lifetime Products employeesmet at Clearfield Citys Steed Park for Lifetimes 5th Annual Local Community Service Project. What a sight! More than800 employees were busy laying sod, trimming trees, leveling baseball diamonds, picking up trash, and much more, to beautify and improve the 23-acre Steed Park for local residents. It was a great experience working togetheroutside of our normal everyday jobs to do something to give back and help improve our local community. It was also a true team effort. Everyone pitched in to help in some way or another... even Lifetime President Richard Hendrickson was busytrimming trees by the pond. Me? I rolled up my sleeves to help stain the pavilion whichwas a little messy, but fun nonetheless. Clearfield Parks and Recreation coordinated much of the work, and employe...
My backstage experience..
As Katie mentioned in the last post, our semi-annual company meeting was a success! By the way, I want to put this disclaimer out there: I was asked to write a blog post on my experience at the Semi-Annual meeting, so I did not volunteer to write this post. So here it goes: Im sitting backstage feeling a little anxious for the big event. Its Profit Sharing! It happens twice a year and Katie and I have worked hard getting presentations, videos, and everything else organized for the meeting. As I watch Katie finalize a few things on the final presentation, my adrenaline starts going. The backstage men in black, as I call them, give us the queue. Time to begin! The opening video rolls, then Richard (our President) runs out and begins his presentation. He then announces the founders wife, Kathy, will present the Humanitarian of...
What NOT to Do When Assembling a Lifetime Basketball Hoop
A few months ago I forewarned you of the top three things to know before assembling a Lifetime Basketball Hoop. Today, I'm going to share with you some of the specific hurdles I alluded to in that post that we crossed along the way when assembling our own Lifetime Basketball Hoop (model 90228). To be honest, I'm kind of embarrassed to share my story with you given some of the pretty major "oopsies" we had. After all, since I work for Lifetime, you'd think I'd know how to assemble the products. Not necessarily true. This was my first time assembling a Lifetime Basketball Hoop. Let's just say, I can definitely empathize with our customers now! Before we started assembling, we laid out all of our parts and pieces to make sure we could easily find everything. Thankfully, all the parts and bags of hardware are labeled well. Simpl...
