My favorite products from Lifetime-  Do I have to say sheds

I’m excited to talk about our new shed that we have been busy working on over the past few months. We have designed a new size with some fresh new features. Through customer research, we learned that you, our awesome consumers, like the width of our 8-foot wide family of sheds, but some of you just don't have the space for a deep shed like our 8x10 or 8x12.5. This new shed is 8 feet wide and 6 feet deep! The shed also has a new look with vertical siding and windows in the doors. It has corner trim to make the colors pop and look good in your yard. We’ve also added a skylight that runs the full depth of the shed to allow natural light in so you can more easily see your stuff. Also, this new shed comes with shelving to help you organize your bug spray, weed killer, and whatever else you want to store. With our... More

With winter in full-swing, that does not mean you need to quit composting. Composting in the winter and cold temperatures is still possible with these helpful tips: Keep your composter in the sun as much as possible. This is probably the same place you have had it all summer, but with the angle of the sun changing as it does during the winter, you may need to take another look and adjust the placement of your Lifetime Composter. For winter composting, keeping your compost a little on the dry side may also help. This can be achieved by modifying your typical brown versus green ratios to a little more heavy on brown. Moisture in the compost mix is necessary but too much will freeze and slow down the helpful composting bacteria, or put these bacteria into hibernation. So, a touch dryer during the winter is better. In this post, I wanted to share with you more information about our new Grabcessories™ products. We've all seen safety grab bars. So, what makes Grabcessories™ unique? First, they look GREAT!  Honestly, they do!  Our new product line is designed to be both beautiful and functional - seamlessly integrating as actual bathroom décor while providing the convenience of safety accessories.  If you read between all that marketing mumbo-jumbo, it means your bathroom will still look like a home bathroom and not a hospital or nursing home. The second thing that makes Grabcessories™ unique is that they currently are the only safety grab bar product on the market offering a complete line of coordinating bathroom safety accessories.  Most manufactures only offer one bar fo... A while ago, we shared on this blog that Lifetime was adding a new Health and Wellness category. Health and Wellness is a category of products designed to, well, keep you healthy and well. This Health and Wellness category now offers a complete line of products called Grabcessories™. Grabcessories™ are safety grab bars mixed with beautifully designed bathroom fixtures. They’re designed to be attractive so your bathroom won’t look like a hospital, and they come in two finishes: Chrome and Brushed Nickel. These grab bars help with limited mobility while in the bathroom. There is a bar for each area where extra safety might be needed. For example, we have a bar that “wraps” around the tub or shower faucet, providing stability when showering or a place to grab hold when entering or exitin... More

We love getting feedback from our customers. We have had all kinds of interesting topics sent in to us. This one was no exception. Although we can’t officially promote use of our products for anything other than their intended use, I thought this one was pretty clever. Stan wrote in telling us how much he loves his Lifetime Outdoor Storage Box. Stan likes to cook meat using a smoker and needed a place to store his smoker on his deck and protect it from the elements. He devised a cleaver way to do this with his Lifetime Storage Box. First, he secured the box standing on one end. Then, he built a sliding shelf in it. Now, whenever he wants to smoke his meat he opens the “door” of the box and slides out the shelf. Voila, the smoker is ready to go. When he is done with it, and the smoker has cooled, he sli... More

For this post, I want to write about our new Lifetime 50-Gallon Composter. Loyal blog readers (if there are any of them out there) know that Lifetime offers a variety of composters. These composters make being green easy, help provide beautiful gardens, and potentially save the planet. Yep, composters are pretty much modern day superheroes. Well, maybe that is a little extreme, but they are pretty cool. Lifetime has been in the composter manufacturing business for about five years now. I remember when my boss came to me and said he wanted to develop a composter for mass market retail. I have to admit, I thought his brain might have started to compost. I didn't think mass market retail was ready for compost bins. After all, they were only for people who lived completely off the land in rural USA, right?  Boy was I wrong.... More

A few weeks ago, I traveled down to Las Vegas, Nevada to attend the National Hardware Show. This show is a annual exhibit of manufacturers of Lawn and Garden products, as well as other miscellaneous products. Of course, I was most interested in the array of Lawn and Garden products. I felt a little guilty being there, as I was technically there for work but secretly looking around for myself. There are so many new and innovative products coming out for the yard. Fortunately, I flew down there so I didn't have room in my suitcase to buy anything and bring it back. I don't typically use this word, but "giddy" is a good description about how seeing all of these products made me feel about Spring starting and all the gardening I am soon going to be able to do! Lifetime had a large booth at the show, displaying our awesome L... More

This past Sunday afternoon I was able to skip out of church a little early to do a radio interview with our friends at 96.5 FM in Florida. Ken and Jared, father and son, do a weekly home improvement show called "In the House" where they invite “experts” in various categories to come talk about products to improve your home. As part of this interview, they are giving away a Lifetime 7'x7' Storage Shed model 60042. This was the third show of this type that I have done since I’ve been here at Lifetime. I keep a tally of the number of times I say “um” or “like” or some other filler word. This time I only counted six which was a big improvement. I have to admit it is fun talking about something I am so passionate about. I am very content working out in the garden, and with the great weath... More

It's about that time. Time to start planning your garden and planting in your Lifetime Raised Garden Beds. Here in Utah the weather has been unseasonably warm. I am still being careful, however, and not planting too early... a surprise snow storm in June is not that unheard of here. Have you heard about the new Plant Hardiness map from the FDA? The 2012 Plant Hardiness Zone Map has a few surprises for our nation’s gardeners. Due to the warming trend in our climate lately, northerners may be able to successfully grow plants they weren't able to grow before. So exactly what is the Plant Hardiness Zone Map?  If you’ve ever bought a packet of seeds, you’ve seen it. It's the little multi-colored map on the back of your vegetable or flower packet. Different colored zones on that map inform you of what num... More

Remember being young and banned to the “kiddie” table at family gatherings? Now with our new table, you are going to wish you were still a kid. The new  Lifetime Kids Oval Picnic Table takes all the creative features of our adult-sized tables – easy to clean, lightweight, folding for storage –  and miniaturizes it.  After all, what kid doesn't want to have stuff just like Mom and Dad's? The Kids Oval Picnic Table folds completely flat for storage. And, don't worry, moms - it looks nice so it will won’t distract from the hours spent on making the perfect table setting. We have been using our kids picnic table a lot at our house. It goes easily from the indoors to outdoors. Because it’s made of the same material as our adult picnic tables, we let the kids color... Our Chinese New Year Celebration
Occasionally our family likes to take a time out from our usual dinner routine and enjoy something unique from a culture different than ours. Last week, since Chinese New Year was in full swing, we thought it would be a great opportunity to enjoy a part of the rich Chinese culture. Oftentimes we celebrate with extended family or a couple of families in our neighborhood but this year we decided to try something a little more trouble-free and just celebrated with our little family. We started by bringing one of our Lifetime 6 foot folding banquet tables up from the basement and placing it (with the legs unfolded) on a couple of short storage bins. This allowed the table to sit about 18 inches from the ground. Although sitting on the floor isnt necessarily a dining practice in the Chinese culture, some close friends started doing...
Let Your Orange Pumpkin Go Green After Halloween
My husband helped the kiddos carve our jack-o-lantern last night. Honestly, I don't know why we go to the effort every year because they kids never help. They both think it's gross and stinky. They do like the finished product, just not the actual scooping and carving process. Oh well. I guess we just keep hoping that one year they'll actually find it fun. So, after your jack-o-lantern glows for three or four nights, now what do you do with the pumpkin? Well, you could do what some of my neighbors do and let it simply rot on the porch. (Personally, I'd vote against that smelly option!) Most people probably just throw the pumpkin in the trash and think nothing of it. Instead, this year, why not let your orange pumpkin go green! Composting pumpkins is a great way to dispose of your pumpkin. Be sure to remove the candle and ...
Lifetime Card Table Comparison
A few months ago, I posted some photos to show you a comparison of the size of Lifetime chairs to a typical folding chair. So, today, I thought I'd go ahead and show you how a Lifetime Card Table compares to a typical card table. First of all, what you may not realize, without having two card tables to compare side-by-side, is that a typical card table is 34" square while the Lifetime card table is actually 37". As you can see by the photo, this provides quite a bit of extra useable surface area. This extra space certainly comes in handy when I seat four people around the table to eat, piece together large puzzles, and more. And, don't worry, the table is still lightweight and easy to carry at just 19lbs. Speaking of weightthe Lifetime card table is engineered for superior strength and durability. In fact, the Lifetime card...
