Three Dreaded Words... Back To School

Three Dreaded Words... Back To School

Three Dreaded Words... Back To School

I picked up my son's registration packet for kindergarten yesterday. (Still can't believe my baby is going to kindergarten. Sniff, sniff. But, that's a story for another day!) Geez, how many forms can they make us fill out? So overwhelming and seemingly redundant in many ways. Amongst the huge stack of papers, guidelines, and forms was the obligatory school supply list. Wow, so much for just needing to buy a backpack, pencils, and notebook anymore, huh? The kindergarten supply list has nearly 20 items on it! Crazy!

Personally, I was one of those nerdy kids that always got fired up about "back to school" time because, being the organizer that I am, I couldn't wait to pick out all of my new school supplies, especially my new Trapper Keeper! Ironically though, my husband came home from the store just the other day and said he saw the three most dreaded words for kids. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what he was talking about. Then it dawned on me... "Back to School". Yep, when you're a kid, those three words on store signs and ads mean summer and endless days of fun are almost over.

Anyways, so as I'm looking over this long list of school supplies that I need to buy for my son, I couldn't help but think that they forgot a very important supply... a Lifetime Personal Table! Ok, so I know you don't really need one at school, but for older kids it is important to have a designated place to do homework at home... and a Lifetime Personal Table is the perfect size for a desk. (Not to mention the perfect price!) And, you can fold it up and stash in under a bed or behind a door if space is really limited.

So, while you're buying your list of school supplies, don't forget to throw a Lifetime Personal Table in your cart, too. And, I'll let you in on a little secret.... now is the perfect time to buy one! In case you missed Joe's last post, Buylifetime.com is having a special "Christmas in July" sale! Just enter the coupon code JMA010 when you checkout on buylifetime.com for $10 off your purchase... that's in addition to the always FREE shipping they offer!

Jenn,

Unfortunately, each school has its own supply list so posting my son's wouldn't be of much use for you.  Plus, most schools are getting VERY specific about brands, colors, and quantities of supplies you have to buy. (They truly take the fun out of buying school supplies nowadays!) Check your niece's school website, they usually have the supply lists published.  Or, if you live in the same town where your niece goes to school, most all stores that sell school supplies (Wal-mart, Target, office supply stores, etc.) have the school supply lists for each local school on display at the front of the store.  Good luck!

Building Our Lifetime Shed - Step 3
It's official! Our Lifetime shed building project is finished! A few weeks ago we added a wood "skirt" to the front of the wood platform to hide the gap underneath, to prevent critters from getting under our shed, and to make it more attractive. Since we have a wood fence around our yard, we bought two more fence boards and cut them into short pieces. We nailed them onto the platform and basically made a miniature fence along the bottom front of the shed. We then stained it to match the rest of our fencing. It turned out great! We used some of the rock that was left from building our house (and rock that we dug up in our yard when we built our shed) to build some landscaping beds around the shed. We planted a few pansies, and a bush, and - voila- we were done! We originally built our Lifetime shed to get rid of some of the c...

Repeat to Three-Peat?
The NBA Finals are hours away. Who do you have? Either way I think this is going to be an exciting rematch from the 2013 finals. Finals rematches don't come around too often so make sure you watch history in the making. The Spurs are coming for redemption and Heat are trying for a three-peat. The NBA Finals are always an exciting time of year in my house. We like to grill up BBQ for dinner and watch the games as a family. After the games, get out on a Lifetime Basketball system and shoot some hoops with the family to bring it home.
