Why No NBA Label?

Why No NBA Label?

Why No NBA Label?

Over the years, many of my friends and family have asked me why Lifetime doesn’t have the NBA logo on their basketball hoops.  Well, the answer is simple.  Money.  To have the NBA logo on Lifetime backboards, it would cost money. A lot of money.  Money that Lifetime chooses to instead put into the actual quality of their products.  Whether it’s using that money for more research, new manufacturing equipment, or improved materials, the end result is a higher quality product for you.

As a former employee, I can assure you that this philosophy carries through all aspects of Lifetime.  You won’t find any lavish corporate offices at the Lifetime Products headquarters in Clearfield, Utah.  No marble floors, revolving doors, or plush corner offices with beautiful wraparound windows.  Nope, far from it.  The Lifetime Products headquarters are actually in the Freeport Center, an old army warehouse depot.  Each long (almost windowless) building that Lifetime occupies houses a different portion of Lifetime's manufacturing process.  It’s not that Lifetime doesn’t care about their image, it’s just that they would rather invest in their products and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies to better benefit the consumer, rather than invest in fancy, shamcy, corporate offices for themselves.  If you’ve never read the history of how Lifetime Products began, take a few minutes to check it out... it’s pretty amazing.  The owner started making basketball hoops in his garage and he still maintains that down-to-earth attitude... even today after 37 years of Lifetime's tremendous success.  You won’t find him driving a decked out car or flying around in a corporate jet, he’s just your average guy-next-door.

So, while Lifetime realizes there are some people who buy products based soley on labels, Lifetime feels it is in your best interest not to pour money into expensive licenses.  And, if customers do their homework and research when buying a product, hopefully, they will realize that the Lifetime logo truly represents quality and that is the only logo, brand, or label on the product that really matters.

My favorite products from Lifetime- 4x2 Table, 30” Personal Table, Chair, Youth Kayak, and Wheelbarrow.  Although, our Shed and Yard Cart are pretty close favorites, too!

Isn't it more because you don't build the NBA System so it's not necessary to make the association?  Yes it is about money, to a point, but you have nothing to gain by promoting the NBA when the word Spalding is all over the NBA stuff.  I will say that you do make very good points about quality, quality should always be the first priority with any company, everything else should be second.

Favorite Fall Foods…Mmmmm!
Tuesday night was my turn to host our Air Force squadrons monthly wives meeting. The evenings in Texas are just starting to cool down so I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to serve my favorite Fall foods - soup and pumpkin desserts! I didnt want to spend too much time and effort on decorating since the meetings are supposed to be simple. So, I planned to eat outside in the cool autumn air and allow Mother Nature to provide my dcor. Well, unfortunately, Mother Nature didnt exactly cooperate with her end of the dealapparently she thinks low 80s is ideal for Fall!? But, after the sun set, it did feel slightly brisk. I borrowed three of bales of straw from a friend to set around in the yard as easy Fall decorations and extra seating if needed. I used my patio table and chairs, a card table and chairs, and my Lifetime...
Hot Chocolate Delight!
Is there anything more fun in the wintertime than coming in after an afternoon of fun in the snow and enjoying a cup of hot cocoa? It is definitely something we look forward to . . . especially if we are hosting family or close friends. We have a delicious hot chocolate recipe we use that I would like to share. Offering an assortment of fun additives to your cocoa makes it even more memorable! You may also want to consider serving the hot chocolate outside. A Lifetime adjustable-height folding table makes set-up quick and easy whether you are setting it up inside or out. Most of us dont have a thermal Airpot dispenser kicking around the house, so a large thermos or a crock-pot set to low will make sure that your cocoa will still stay warm so you wont have to miss out on that last sled run down the hill. Creamy Hot Chocolate ...
Lifetime Chairs on CSI:NY!
I may not be quite as sharp as the CSI team, but my keen eyes did spot several Lifetime tables and chairs onlast week's CSI:NY "Turbulence" episode! (A rerun BTW.) Some companies pay BIG bucks to get ideal product placement (meaning actually using or showing the product) in movies and TV shows. You know, like how all the American Idol judges have a giant Coca-Cola cup sitting in front of them every show!? But, sometimes, a company is fortunate enough to have its product used just because it is the ideal product for a scene. I'm always watching the background shots of various shows, especially home improvement shows, to see if they use Lifetime tables. Every once in a while, I catch a glimpse of one. But, the foldingtables and chairs in this CSI: NYepisode were pretty hard to miss. Well, for me anyway. You probably wouldn't n...
