Why No NBA Label?

Why No NBA Label?

Why No NBA Label?

Over the years, many of my friends and family have asked me why Lifetime doesn’t have the NBA logo on their basketball hoops.  Well, the answer is simple.  Money.  To have the NBA logo on Lifetime backboards, it would cost money. A lot of money.  Money that Lifetime chooses to instead put into the actual quality of their products.  Whether it’s using that money for more research, new manufacturing equipment, or improved materials, the end result is a higher quality product for you.

As a former employee, I can assure you that this philosophy carries through all aspects of Lifetime.  You won’t find any lavish corporate offices at the Lifetime Products headquarters in Clearfield, Utah.  No marble floors, revolving doors, or plush corner offices with beautiful wraparound windows.  Nope, far from it.  The Lifetime Products headquarters are actually in the Freeport Center, an old army warehouse depot.  Each long (almost windowless) building that Lifetime occupies houses a different portion of Lifetime's manufacturing process.  It’s not that Lifetime doesn’t care about their image, it’s just that they would rather invest in their products and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies to better benefit the consumer, rather than invest in fancy, shamcy, corporate offices for themselves.  If you’ve never read the history of how Lifetime Products began, take a few minutes to check it out... it’s pretty amazing.  The owner started making basketball hoops in his garage and he still maintains that down-to-earth attitude... even today after 37 years of Lifetime's tremendous success.  You won’t find him driving a decked out car or flying around in a corporate jet, he’s just your average guy-next-door.

So, while Lifetime realizes there are some people who buy products based soley on labels, Lifetime feels it is in your best interest not to pour money into expensive licenses.  And, if customers do their homework and research when buying a product, hopefully, they will realize that the Lifetime logo truly represents quality and that is the only logo, brand, or label on the product that really matters.

Isn't it more because you don't build the NBA System so it's not necessary to make the association?  Yes it is about money, to a point, but you have nothing to gain by promoting the NBA when the word Spalding is all over the NBA stuff.  I will say that you do make very good points about quality, quality should always be the first priority with any company, everything else should be second.

Lifetime's New 65-Gallon Composter
Who loves composting? We do! Remember how we introduced the Lifetime 80-Gallon Composter last spring? Well, with its success we have designed a smaller version and are excited to announcethe Lifetime 65-Gallon Composter! We have kept all the same great features but just made it a little smaller. The Lifetime 65-Gallon Composter is constructed of UV-protected high-density polyethylene (HDPE) panels and is black with a galvanized steel base. Its extra large, removable lid makes it easy to load lawn and garden trimmings and organic waste. The lid latches shut to help keep rodents out and compost in. The ingenious tumbler design turns on an axis to allow for easy and balanced rotation. The aerated internal bar mixes compost and allows for air flow. Even if youve never composted before, what better time than now to start?! Plus,...
Two Compost Bins, One Lucky Winner!
Squirrels, and mice, and bears - oh my! Several of you who entered our giveaway this month mentioned that you would like your next composter to be pest-proof. Well, good news! All Lifetime Composters are already pest-proof! That's right. We've made it difficult for little pests to climb onto Lifetime Compost Tumblers by raising them off the ground. Our lids securely latch tight to keep the pests out and compost in. And, the double-walled, high-density polyethylene shell prevents rodents - and even bears - from making holes in Lifetime Composters. Yes, I said BEARS! Check out one of our previous blog posts that shows pictures from actual customers who have had their Lifetime Composters survive bear attacks! So, we can happily check "pest-proof" of our list for our next composter design. But, we'll certainly be looking at ways...
New Limited Edition Purple Freestyle XL!
This spring, our watersports department has done something we never have before! We are coming out with a limited edition paddleboard. Sure, this will be the Freestyle XL board we all know and love but there is something that makes it special; its Purple! Not only is this our first limited edition kayak or paddleboard, it is also our first purple one! In total, there will be 325 Purple Freestyle XLs out there for the lucky few who can get there hands on one. I am personally a huge fan of purple, and I think this board looks great. It has all the great characteristics of our other color boards; stability, buoyancy, padding, bungee straps and two fins. The dark purple color really blends well with the black bungees and confetti white and black foam. It really pops and looks incredibly stylish. If your wife, daughter, best fri...
