Ever Wonder?

Ever Wonder?

Ever Wonder?

We flew to Ohio to visit my parents last week.  The kids had a blast at Mammy and Papa's house and the trip went by way too fast, as usual. I know it's crazy, but as soon as our adventure began, I couldn't help but think of Lifetime. When we went through the airport security checkpoint, I counted seven Lifetime tables just at the one gate I was using!  You know the table you put your carry-on luggage and shoes on before you push them through the conveyor belt?  Yep, a majority of the time, those are Lifetime tables!  Considering all of the hundreds of thousands of things that get dropped and scooted on the tables each day, they were in pretty good shape.  It definitely speaks well to the strength and durability of Lifetime tables.  (I did notice, however, they've started bringing in a few metal tables with built-in storage shelves underneath to stack those plastic gray bins that hold wallets, watches etc.)

When 9-11 occurred and the heightened security checks were initiated, I was a full-time employee at Lifetime.  I remember we used to talk in staff meetings about how quickly we were seeing our tables popping up at airports.  But, I hadn't put much thought into it lately...it was just another one of those airport fixtures I started to take for granted, I guess.   Think about it though...ever wonder how many thousands of Lifetime tables must be in use in airports around the globe?  Pretty cool and pretty mind-boggling!

My favorite products from Lifetime- 4x2 Table, 30” Personal Table, Chair, Youth Kayak, and Wheelbarrow.  Although, our Shed and Yard Cart are pretty close favorites, too!

Re-inventing the Wheel(barrow)
It is speculated that the wheelbarrow had it’s beginnings as early as 100 B.C., it’s original design being a simple platform or basket with a large wheel underneath and a pair of handles which the operator used to push it along. It was obviously designed as a “carrier”, and the loads it has carried have varied widely throughout the years. Spanning many cultures all over the world, it has been a vital piece of equipment in a variety of occupations. Wheelbarrows have a long and honorable history. They have been used in early military operations to transport supplies and injured soldiers. Various forms and designs have been found throughout history to transport produce and carry building materials for construction. Wheelbarrows were crucial to world-wide mining operations as well. While the wheelbarrow is still vital to such ...
Outdoor Retailer Wrap-up
Another year of Outdoor Retailer (OR) has come and gone. For those of you who dont know what OR is, it is the largest outdoor industry trade show in the whole world! It is held in our backyard in downtown Salt Lake City. This year, we also had the industry Demo Day in our backyard as well because it was moved from Jordenelle Reservoir to Pineview Reservoir in Ogden Valley! We spent all day on the beautiful banks of Pineview paddling and talking to folks from all over the world. We were super busy and had tons of people stop by to give our boats a test run! What a day! After Demo Day, the indoor show begins. We spend months preparing and designing both our booth and new kayaks to unveil at the show. This year we went all out, even more than we have in the past. We showcased all of the kayaks in our lineup at the Outdoor Retai...
