Outdoor Retailer Wrap-up

Another year of Outdoor Retailer (OR) has come and gone.  For those of you who don’t know what OR is, it is the largest outdoor industry trade show in the whole world! IMG_3770.JPG It is held in our backyard in downtown Salt Lake City.   This year, we also had the industry Demo Day in our backyard as well because it was moved from Jordenelle Reservoir to Pineview Reservoir in Ogden Valley!  We spent all day on the beautiful banks of Pineview paddling and talking to folks from all over the world.  We were super busy and had tons of people stop by to give our boats a test run!  What a day!IMG_3768.JPG

After Demo Day, the indoor show begins.  We spend months preparing and designing both our booth and new kayaks to unveil at the show.  This year we went all out, even more than we have in the past.  We showcased all of the kayaks in our lineup at the Outdoor Retailer show this year and had such a great reaction!  Our booth was bright, exciting and extremely colorful with all of our different kayaks laid out neatly around the booth.  Here are a few pictures so you can see our design.  Our theme this year was a beautiful mountain vacation scene, complete with our own dock and cabin!  Look closely at the photos, you might see a new kayak!  We unveiled quite a few new boats and features this year, but they won’t be available until 2014.  Don’t worry, we’ll have information available soon!IMG_3796.JPG

Position at Lifetime Products- Watersports Marketing Manager for Lifetime and Emotion brand kayaks

How long at Lifetime Products- Since January 2012!  I came as a packaged deal with the acquisition of Emotion Kayaks where I’d been for over a year.

Topics I blog about- Events and news in water sports, places to kayak, and enjoying the outdoors with friends and family.

My favorite products from Lifetime- Any of the Kayaks and paddleboards.  One of these days I’ll get my hands on a Fold-up Trailer and a Camp and Tailgate Table!

On a Saturday afternoon you can find me- This question will always depend on the season!  When the weather outside is frightful, you can find me at one of the nearby ski resort enjoying the fresh snow and crisp air or snowshoeing through the mountains.  Once the sun is shinning and the birds are chirping, my Saturdays are spent outdoors hiking, backpacking, biking, paddle boarding or my most favorite activity of all, kayaking!  All while enjoying the company of good friends of course!

My favorite escape- Anything whitewater, whether it be kayaking or rafting.  A more relaxing escape would be taking my camera out into the wilderness to photograph everything from wildlife to serene landscapes.

Kids' Picnic Table Gets New Color(less)!
So, I have to fess up. Lifetime makes a kids picnic table, but I dont own one. To make matters worse, I own a Step 2 picnic table instead. And, I actually bought my kids picnic table AFTER I worked for Lifetime Products and knew firsthand the great quality in all products from Lifetime. Oh, stop it! I can already hear my former co-workers shouting why, why, why? as they read this. I purchased the table for my sons 2nd birthday. (Great present idea, BTW!) At the time, we lived in Phoenix where we had a tiny backyard with an in-ground pool and a piece of grass that was smaller than our master bathroom...no joke. Everyones backyard in Phoenix is surrounded by a 6 cement block fence...how cozy, huh?!? Anyway, with such a small lot and a pool taking up half of it, I didnt want the rest of the yard to be mistaken for a daycare wi...
The Winner of Our Biggest Giveaway of the Year is….
Wow! When we announced we were hosting our biggest giveaway of the year, your entries started rolling in fast! Not only did we give away our BIGGEST type of product we make, we also had the biggestnumber of entries to date. We asked you to simply tell us how you would use a Lifetime shed and, boy, did we get an earful. Lawn and gardenequipmenttopped the list as the most popular items people planned to keep in a Lifetime shed. However, storing outdoor toys and bikes, garage stuff and tools, extrakids' clothes, and holiday decorations were also frequently mentioned. We even had some creative plans including to use the shed for a workshop, a "man cave", a playhouse, storing boat equipment, storing pool equipment, hiding a water tank, and keeping firewood dry. Clearly, the uses for a Lifetime shed are limited only to your imaginatio...
Final Four
One and Done. That's what is so exciting about March Madness. The performances you never forget are just that. If you've watched even a minute of tournament basketball in your life, you have those memories. Often the Final Four Teams are not the best teams in America. But in my house, that's okay. Why? We tend to follow the Cinderella stories and rooting for the underdog has become a family tradition. The Wichita State Shockers are that team stunning March and making it to Atlanta to play the #1 team in the tournament: Louisville. Will the clock turn midnight before Wichita State can finish their run? Who knows. But I know my family and I will be glued to the TV hoping for that Cinderella story to end happily ever after. Want to have your own Final Four fun? Check out our basketball page on Lifetime.com and pick up your o...
