Utah Genius Awards

Utah Genius Awards 2.jpgNot everyday can you say you know a genius. And, I feel lucky enough to say I do! A few weeks ago, The Bateman IP Group in Utah hosted the annual Utah Genius Awards at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City and thanks to the creative collaboration of our research and development team, Lifetime was honored, yet again as one of the top companies with the most patents issued in 2012—with 22 new patents! Mitch Johnson accepted this award along with our very own, Wendell Peery, who was also recognized for being one of the top 20 people in Utah with the most patents issued in 2012—with 11 patents! These awards are based on patent statistics and serve as Utah’s prime program for recognizing and honoring the brilliant minds and innovative companies that drive Utah’s economy.

Randall B. Bateman, founder of Bateman IP, said, “We are consistently impressed with the volume of patents and trademarks that come out of Utah. The Utah Genius Awards serve as a reminder to us all of the incredible people and companies that call this state home.”

We congratulate and thank all of our employees who invent and design our products—we are grateful to have such a great team at Lifetime!

Scrapbooks With A Click Of A Mouse
We headed up to Dallas this past weekend to visit my in-laws. My sister-in-law is a Director and Consultant for Creative Memories, a scrapbooking company. Personally, Ive always been anti-scrapbooking because I detest never-ending projects! Im a person that likes to see the fruits of my labor and I want to be able to relish in the feeling of accomplishment and productivity when I see a project completed. Plus, Im way too anal retentiveI hate cutting and gluing my pictures, I feel like Im ruining them. I also loathe messes so Id spend way more time cleaning up and organizing my supplies than working on my scrapbook! But, there is a new scrapbooking fad that is a little more up my allydigital scrapbooks! No fancy-schmancy paper, no glue or embellishments, no cutting pictures required. Apparently, its all the rage. My sister-in...

New Clearview Backboards
One of the great things about working at Lifetime Products is our people. We have a great group of engineers in our Sporting Goods department. Last fall, we were trying to come up with a way to make our basketball system backboards more like the pro boards. With some late nights and a lot of design work, we were able to come up with our new Clearview backboards. What is Clearview? Well, I am going to tell you. With residential systems it is common in the industry to have a backboard brace behind the square target of your backboard. On these systems we use a clear material called polycarbonate or on the higher end systems tempered-glass to make them look like the pro's. However, the backboard braces were blocking your view through the backboard. We wanted to remove the braces behind the target so there was a clear view more ...
