Heat Up Your Fundraising with a Workplace Chili Cook-Off
A few weeks ago, my husbands squadron hosted their annual Chili Cook-Off. Our chili cook-off is simply an excuse for a fun get-together. Follow these simple tips and your fundraiser will be easy as banging a pot. Find Your CooksMake a sign-up sheet for people to participate in the cook-off. If you are going to invite the public or other organizations to attend, consider recruiting local politicians and business leaders to make a pot of their favorite chili. Find Your JudgesIf you are keeping your contest within your workplace, simply draw names out of a hat to pick impartial judges. If you are hosting a more public event, ask well-known community leaders to lend a hand, or actually tongue, to your ev...
Boy Earns Eagle Scout Building Lifetime Shed
Happy Birthday BSA! The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated and chartered by the United States Congress on February 8, 1910. That means this week, they are 101 years old! But he wasn't calling to talk just about the program; he was calling because the local Spectrum program had a problem that was putting their annual play in jeopardy. He had he...

First piece of advice, kayaks are not for sledding! They go fast but they dont like the cold, so keep them off of the snow! Ok, now for the real tips. As always, make sure you wash your kayak after use. This is especially important when you will be putting it into storage for several months. Mild dish soap and water works just fine, no need for fancy cleaners. Make sure you remove sand and dirt, even from those little crevices. And, just think about how nice it will be to pull this baby out in the spring for its maiden run when it is so squeaky clean! ...
