My kayak outing!

My kayak outing!

P1150860.JPGEvery summer, my church plans some sort of camping/boating outing for many reasons but mostly to have fun and enjoy each other’s company. This year was no different. We ended up on the hills of Heber City at Heber Valley Camp. Knowing I worked for Lifetime, I had several requests to bring kayaks for our day at the lake. So, I checked out the trailer with 12 Lifetime Monterrey Kayaks and we spent all day Saturday paddling around. Needless to say, Lifetime kayaks were a hit! I heard nothing but positive compliments about the boats.

578077_10151178981883135_1026453268_n.jpgMany people were amazed at the stability of the kayaks. A lot of people who had never tried kayaking expected the kayaks to feel like canoes that can tip with any sudden movement. But, they’re not! Kayaks have a much wider, flatter hull than a canoe so they are a lot more stable – especially Lifetime kayaks which are designed with increased stability for beginners. After everyone realized how stable and easy the Lifetime kayaks were to use, it was only a matter of time before they decided to start a relay race around a buoy to see if the boys or girls could paddle the fastest. I’ll let you guess who won.

P1150861.JPGThe other misconception several people had was thinking kayaking is a serious and/or an expensive sport, which it doesn’t have to be. Lifetime kayaks are sturdy and affordable for beginner and moderate kayakers. They are intended only for recreational use, not whitewater kayaking (which is an extreme adventure sport). In fact, one of our leader’s wife who had been very apprehensive about trying the kayaks finally decided to go out with her husband and can I just say… the look on her face once she started paddling away was priceless—pure bliss!

Apparently, our outing gave more than a few people the kayaking bug. The next Sunday at church, four people asked where they could purchase Lifetime kayaks because they had such a fun time! Since then, I’ve had another request to use the kayaks for an end of summer gathering on the lake, this time closer to home. I’m anxious to see what kind of things come from our next adventure. I think I’ll start a game of kayak rugby... that’s always fun on kayaks!

Our Lifetime Kayak has been a hit all summer. My boys asked if they could take it up North with us when we went to the cabin with the extended family. Wow, everyone wanted to use the kayak all day...and we only had the one. lol My sister-in-law, had THE hardest time getting her out of it. Then all the boys cousins took turns going across the lake. Last week I asked my youngest if he wanted to go to the beach. All he asked for was to take the Kayak. =)

The Community Food Co-Op of Utah
"If you eat, you qualify!" This is the motto of the Community Food Co-Op of Utah of which I've been a member since last Spring. The way it works is very simple. The program allows consumers to buy fresh, local food at wholesale prices, without paying for the services of "a middle man," namely the big supermarkets. Members of the co-op submit their monthly orders via telephone or email. Volunteers pick up the food from local wholesalers, package it at the co-op warehouse in Salt Lake, and deliver it to various Pick Up locations in the Salt Lake valley. Obviously, buying in bulk saves us money, so the more members, the less each of us pays for our groceries! So where does Lifetime come in? At our "Store!" As you can see, the Store is actually a garage, generously made available to the co-op members by one of our volunteers. Cl...
Video Review of Lifetime Raised Garden Kit
A few months ago we told you about our newest lawn and garden product - the Lifetime Raised Garden Kits. We are thrilled to tell you they are quickly becoming a very popular product! These 4'x4' kits provide a full garden setup in less than one hour of easy do-it-yourself assembly with no tools required. But, a lot of you may still be wondering if they are really that easy to assemble and if they really work. Well, wonder no more! If you're a loyal reader of this blog, you may be familiar with our fellow Geekstyle blogger, Joe. It turns out that not only does Joe get geeky with techy things, but he also gets geeky about going green, too! A few weeks ago, we gave Joe a Lifetime Raised Garden Kit to review and use on his personal green/gardening website called PathToGreenerLiving.com. He created a detailed and in-...
Lifetime Employees Build New Hiking Trail
Last Saturday, September 10, 430 of my fellow co-workers and I spent three hours constructing a brand new walking and biking trail in Ogden City, Utah for Lifetimes 6th Annual Local Community Service Project. Each year, Lifetime employees work off the clock and donate their time with our group community service project, earning credit toward Lifetimes bi-annual employee benefit program that gives a percentage of the companys profits to each employee. Since Lifetime is celebrating its 25th corporate anniversary, this year we are increasing our efforts and actually undertaking four separate beautification projects on two separate days. This past Saturdays trail building was our first project and the second project will be held this Saturday, September 17, and will include clean-up of two parks and cemetery beautification in W...
