Continuous Kayak Innovation with the New Lifetime Monterey

the new monterey.JPGOur water sports team is constantly trying to improve our current lineup, as well as design new innovative and stylish kayaks.  We looked at our popular Daylite and Lotus models carefully, put our heads together, and out popped the Lifetime Monterey!  The Lifetime Monterey Kayak is the newest addition to our kayak family, but it still has many of the great qualities of its cousins, the Daylite and the Lotus.

The new Monterey is 8’ in length and 29.5” wide.   We have added enhanced tracking channels to the bottom of the kayak which will help keep the kayak from turning side-to-side with each paddle stroke.  It will also allow the paddler to go a greater distance with less effort - who doesn’t want that?!  As with all Lifetime kayaks, the Monterey is extremely stable and great for everyone from kids to adults.

IMG_3901.JPG This new kayak also has our new blow-molded, adjustable seat back.  The new seat is low profile and lightweight, so while you will be more comfortable, your kayak won’t weigh any more!   It has a curved design that supports the small of your back while you paddle, which really helps with getting full power out of each and every paddle stroke you take.  This seat back easily folds down and conveniently tucks into the storage area making it easy to transport and stash away for the winter.   The Monterey will also stand vertical on its back end, just like the Daylite and Lotus kayaks.  The new design is also compatible with the sail kit accessory if you are looking for some hands-free kayaking.

The Monterey is currently available at Sam’s Club and will be available in the coming months in the Lifetime Store Online.  And, if you head over to WovenbyWords.com, you can actually enter to WIN a Lifetime Monterey Kayak!  Our new kayak is the grand prize in the Made in America blog giveaway which ends July 18. (The Monterey is made in our Clearfield, Utah factory.)  While you are at WovenbyWords.com, be sure to check out her personal review and photos of the Lifetime Monterey to see what one customer has to say about our newest Lifetime kayak.

Position at Lifetime Products- Watersports Marketing Manager for Lifetime and Emotion brand kayaks

How long at Lifetime Products- Since January 2012!  I came as a packaged deal with the acquisition of Emotion Kayaks where I’d been for over a year.

Topics I blog about- Events and news in water sports, places to kayak, and enjoying the outdoors with friends and family.

My favorite products from Lifetime- Any of the Kayaks and paddleboards.  One of these days I’ll get my hands on a Fold-up Trailer and a Camp and Tailgate Table!

On a Saturday afternoon you can find me- This question will always depend on the season!  When the weather outside is frightful, you can find me at one of the nearby ski resort enjoying the fresh snow and crisp air or snowshoeing through the mountains.  Once the sun is shinning and the birds are chirping, my Saturdays are spent outdoors hiking, backpacking, biking, paddle boarding or my most favorite activity of all, kayaking!  All while enjoying the company of good friends of course!

My favorite escape- Anything whitewater, whether it be kayaking or rafting.  A more relaxing escape would be taking my camera out into the wilderness to photograph everything from wildlife to serene landscapes.

What's in a name?
Interesting littlestory here. Irecently received this email from Joanne Nelson of Exeter, Rhode Island: I purchased a Lifetime Personal Table several years ago and I love it. I am a quilter and this little table goes with me when I go to classes because I can set my sewing machine on it and adjust the height to exactly what I need so it is ergonomically correct for my sitting position However... I recently brought my table to a quilting retreat to let a 84 yr old lady, who is tiny, borrow my table so she could sew comfortably for the 5 day retreat. She was so happy about the table that I wanted to buy one for her. I found one and brought it home only to be very disappointed in the redesign of it. My table has metal legs and they are secured into a metal frame work so the legs can't come out very easily by accident if the t...
Lifetime's CFO Named a Utah CFO of the Year
We have great news! Mark Whiting, chief financial officer of Lifetime Products Inc, was named a CFO of the Year in the June issue of Utah Business Magazine (read all about it).Whiting was recognized for his 22-year contribution in building a recession-proof company, and a company that has become an international player in the sporting goods and outdoor products industry. The first time youmeet Mark Whiting, youare surprised by his genuine warmth. He laughs often, listens attentively, andusually refers to himself as a bean-counter. When asked about being nominated for the Utah Business CFO of the Year Award, he bursts into laughter (I experienced that one myself).Though hewould not say he deserves this award, the growing numbers speak for themselves Last year, Lifetime: Experienced an annual revenue higher than any record...
Think Inside the Box
We love getting feedback from our customers. We have had all kinds of interesting topics sent in to us. This one was no exception. Although we cant officially promote use of our products for anything other than their intended use, I thought this one was pretty clever. Stan wrote in telling us how much he loves his Lifetime Outdoor StorageBox. Stan likes to cook meat using a smoker and needed a place to store his smoker on his deck and protect it from the elements. He devised a cleaver way to do this with his Lifetime Storage Box. First, he secured the box standing on one end. Then, he built a sliding shelf in it. Now, whenever he wants to smoke his meat he opens the door of the box and slides out the shelf. Voila, the smoker is ready to go. When he is done with it, and the smoker has cooled, he slides it back into the box sh...
