Think Inside the Box

smoker 1.jpgWe love getting feedback from our customers. We have had all kinds of interesting topics sent in to us. This one was no exception. Although we can’t officially promote use of our products for anything other than their intended use, I thought this one was pretty clever.

Stan wrote in telling us how much he loves his Lifetime Outdoor Storage Box. Stan likes to cook meat using a smoker and needed a place to store his smoker on his deck and protect it from the elements. He devised a cleaver way to do this with his Lifetime Storage Box. First, he secured the box standing on one end. Then, he built a sliding shelf in it. Now, whenever he wants to smoke his meat he opens the “door” of the box and slides out the shelf. Voila, the smoker is ready to go. When he is done with it, and the smoker has cooled, he slides it back into the box shuts the door. His smoker is out of sight and protected from the elements.smoker 2.jpgsmoker 3.jpg

Again, we don’t officially sanction this type of use of our product, but think this was certainly a pretty clever idea.smoker 4.jpg

The Lifetime Outdoor Storage Box is a great product. I use mine as a giant toy box big enough to hold even the bigger toys. My parents use theirs to store pool supplies, and have installed boards to divide it into compartments for pool toys, too.

If you don’t have one of our deck storage boxes, you can check them out in the USA at Lowe’s. They come in two sizes (80-gallon and 130-gallon), and in two different color schemes. You can also find them in the Lifetime Store Online.

Thanks so much for sharing, Stan.  If you have a creative way you use your Lifetime product like Stan did, drop us a line on this blog, our Facebook page, or via email to pr@lifetime.com.  We'd love to hear how you think outside - or inside - the box!

I think we can use it to store jewellery and other accessories. It can be used to store sport equipments and other accessories.

Hello.

Sorry we don't make covers for them. That's a good idea however.

Got an RV? You need a Lifetime Fold-in-Half Table
Do you like to go camping or RVing? Don’t we all? There’s one thing I’ve noticed, there never seems to be enough room to put pots and pans, board games, work areas, or just places to sit down and have a nice meal. The problem is space. RV’s don’t have a lot of room for “extra stuff” and regular folding tables can take up quite a bit of room. JEBar, a senior member over at MyRVtalk.com, recommends Lifetime’s fold-in-half tables to solve this problem. They open up to a good working size but fold to a nice, compact size. JEBar says: features we like .... adjustable height .... easy to clean .... folds to a really nice size so as to fit into the basement of our camper (open size 2 X 4 -- folded size 2 square about 4 thick) ..... seems to be very stable .... one concern, will I have to put some sort of heat shield between ou...
Lifetime and Engineers Honored at Utah Genius Awards
Yesterday was a good day... I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed, and set out to assemble a shed with Lifetimes Prototype Shop Specialists (who I call Product Assembly Wizards) in the Little America Hotel grand ballroom. After a few hours of drilling, tightening bolts, and hauling through the kitchenoddly enough, the best path to the loading dock we had our own little corner with a Lifetime shed, composter, wheelbarrow, and Personal Table for a drawing to win the products. You may wonder why a person would be so excited to do all this work. Well, besides the fact that Im generally overly excited about most things I get to do, I was thrilled to see six of our engineers and Lifetime Products as a company honored at the2011Utah Genius awards program! Including its engineers, Lifetime took home eight awards total. Our own eng...
Keep Your Tools Organized With a Lifetime Shed
At dinner with some friends this weekend we got talking about my job at Lifetime. One of my friends said, Lifetime makes a lot of cool stuff. There is a reason I have started my seventh year here at the company because I agree. We do make a lot of cool stuff. Working in the Lawn Garden category these past six years, I have seen a lot of new products. But the core of the category has always been our sheds. In fact, it was an idea to create a shed that launched the category, and thus, my job! One of the neatest innovations in our family of sheds, in my opinion, has been our 10x8 and 15x8 line. These sheds have proven to be very popular. One of the great things about them is the way they allow you to organize your stuff. With the entry on the long side, you can compartmentalize between right and left halves of the shed. This ...
