New Clearview Backboards

New Clearview Backboards

One of the great things about working at Lifetime Products is our people. We have a great group of engineers in our Sporting Goods department. Last fall, we were trying to come up with a way to make our basketball system backboards more like the pro boards. With some late nights and a lot of design work, we were able to come up with our new Clearview backboards.

What is Clearview? Well, I am going to tell you. With residential systems it is common in the industry to have a backboard brace behind the square target of your backboard. On these systems we use a clear material called polycarbonate or on the higher end systems tempered-glass to make them look like the pro's. However, the backboard braces were blocking your view through the backboard.

We wanted to remove the braces behind the target so there was a clear view more like a pro-style system. However, the problem was if you remove braces, you sacrifice strength and sturdiness.

Problem solved! Our amazing engineering team was able to design a way for the backboard extension arms to be connected to the backboard out of site. Moving the position of the braces out and removing the brace in front of the shooting target actually made sense. Not only do you have a true clearview backboard that has a nice open feel to it, but you also have a system that has less wobble and is more sturdy.  To see the difference, take a look at these two pictures which show a traditional backboard brace and our new Clearview backboard.

Lifetime is always trying to improve and make our products the best they can be. It takes hard work and a great team to accomplish this. Look for these new Clearview backboards on our highend Lifetime Mammoth line which has been updated and improved, as well as on our Elite line sold at Dicks Sporting Goods Model # 90227, 90228, 90230, and 90231.

Where Do You Store Your Lifetime Tables & Chairs?
I know, I know. It's been forever since I last blogged, but I'm back! Back from where? Oh, just the usual, life in general...family visits, taking the kids to school and soccer, cleaning house, whatever. Although, I did squeeze in a quick vacation to Cancun which was soooo relaxing and fun!! Anyway, to those of you who have missed my regular weekly posts (thanks, Mom), your wait is over! :) So, the other day when I was getting out my vacuum cleaner, I happened to see my Lifetime folding chairs and began to wonder. (Yes, Im infamous for random association-thinkingyou know, where one thought leads to another to another to another.) Anyway, my first thought was that Lifetime folding chairs are super comfortable. But, geez, compared to other cheap, flimsyfolding chairs, they sure are big. (Obviously, this is a great feature whe...
Kids' Picnic Table Gets New Color(less)!
So, I have to fess up. Lifetime makes a kids picnic table, but I dont own one. To make matters worse, I own a Step 2 picnic table instead. And, I actually bought my kids picnic table AFTER I worked for Lifetime Products and knew firsthand the great quality in all products from Lifetime. Oh, stop it! I can already hear my former co-workers shouting why, why, why? as they read this. I purchased the table for my sons 2nd birthday. (Great present idea, BTW!) At the time, we lived in Phoenix where we had a tiny backyard with an in-ground pool and a piece of grass that was smaller than our master bathroom...no joke. Everyones backyard in Phoenix is surrounded by a 6 cement block fence...how cozy, huh?!? Anyway, with such a small lot and a pool taking up half of it, I didnt want the rest of the yard to be mistaken for a daycare wi...
Video Review of Lifetime Raised Garden Kit
A few months ago we told you about our newest lawn and garden product - the Lifetime Raised Garden Kits. We are thrilled to tell you they are quickly becoming a very popular product! These 4'x4' kits provide a full garden setup in less than one hour of easy do-it-yourself assembly with no tools required. But, a lot of you may still be wondering if they are really that easy to assemble and if they really work. Well, wonder no more! If you're a loyal reader of this blog, you may be familiar with our fellow Geekstyle blogger, Joe. It turns out that not only does Joe get geeky with techy things, but he also gets geeky about going green, too! A few weeks ago, we gave Joe a Lifetime Raised Garden Kit to review and use on his personal green/gardening website called PathToGreenerLiving.com. He created a detailed and in-...
