Lifetime Named a Top Patent Company in Utah

utah genius 2012.JPGWe've been sharing a lot of new products with you lately... so you know our engineers have been busy.  Guess what?  We aren't the only ones who have noticed. Earlier this month, Lifetime was honored at the Utah Genius Awards ceremony as one of the Top 20 Patent Companies in Utah for 2011!

The Utah Genius Awards are held annually and recognize the creative people and companies  behind Utah's economy.  The awards are based on objective statistics from the U.S. Patent and Trademark office, not votes.

Last year Lifetime earned 20 new patents for our product inventions including patents for our basketball height adjustment, edge & corner for our table, and our playset. These new patents join our extensive patent portfolio of more than 500 patents worldwide.  It takes a lot of time and effort to file for a patent but for inventors, patents are a very important part of protecting original inventions against infringers.  A patent is a property right granted by the government to keep others from copying the idea. At Lifetime, we are proud of our work and we are committed to protecting our innovations and intellectual property rights.

Congratulations and thank you to all of our employees who invent and design our products. We are thankful to have such a great team at Lifetime!

What I do for a living- First and foremost, I'm a doting mommy of a second grader and a 4-year-old, and a proud wife of a USAF F-16 fighter pilot!  In my pre-children life, I was the Communications Manager for Lifetime Products.  But, once you're a Lifetime fan, you're hooked!  So, after a few years of hiatus, I'm now a WAHM and am happily back on board at Lifetime as a freelance PR Consultant.  In addition to blogging for Lifetime, you can follow and chat with me on Lifetime's Twitter account @Lifetime365 and on the Lifetime Products Facebook page!

Topics I blog about- How I use Lifetime products in my everyday life at home, for kids parties and community activities, as well as inspiring stories... and GIVEAWAYS!  :)

My favorite products from Lifetime- 4x2 Table, 30” Personal Table, Chair, Youth Kayak, and Wheelbarrow.  Although, our Shed and Yard Cart are pretty close favorites, too!

30 Years Later
When I was a little girl, my Grandpa made me a very special keepsake gift...a handmade wooden dollhouse, complete with shingles cut from sandpaper. Well, just like a real house roof has to be replaced about every 20 years, evidently so does a dollhouse roof! Afterour four moves, (ok, and 30 years of sun damage, dust, and wear-and-tear!) the dollhouse roof was about 10 years past its prime. The sandpaper shingles were curling up and literally falling off. My Dad and I have been wanting to replace them for several years now, but we've just never got around to it whenever he came to visit from out-of-state. This weekend my parents were here and it was a cold, rainy weekend with not much to do. So, my Dad and I FINALLY started the dollhouse roof replacement project. My Dad's father was the one who originally built the dollhouse...
Like Legwarmers and Mariah Carey, Recession Gardens Are Making A Comeback
I first learned about victory gardens at a young age, thanks to the stories I read about Molly McIntire, a fictional character who grew up during World War II. Molly and her family grew their own vegetables since crops grown by farmers were needed for the American troops. Well, once the war ended, victory gardens took a back seat to the fluorescent lights of the grocery superstore. With our nations current financial situation though, Im not surprised to see victory gardensor recession gardens, as theyre known these daysmaking a comeback.I recently read that an estimated 43 million American households will be planting their own recession gardens this year. Forty-three million! It just goes to show that lots of people across the nation are catching on to this trendand with savings of up to $5,000 on groceries a year, no wonder ...
Happy (Early) Father's Day to Our Shed Giveaway Winner!
Thanks to everyone who entered this month's giveaway to try and win the Lifetime 7'x7'Shed for their Dad for Father's Day. We received some very touching stories about how much your Dads mean to you and why you wanted to win this shed for Dad. But, in the end, the winner picked by random.org was Sonya R. of Knoxville, TX. Congrats, Sonya. We hope your husband enjoys this year's Father's Day present for years to come! We also heard some great feedback about which features you liked best about this relatively-new Lifetime 7'x7' Shed. By far (and not surprisingly), the feature most of you liked the best was the full-length roof skylight. That's a pretty awesome addition to a shed! Other popular answers were the shatterproof windows that open and the customizable shelving. If you fell in love with this shed but weren't the luck...
