Lifetime Products on Your Smartphone or Tablet

iphone screenshot.JPGBack when I was a kid, my Dad asked me to look at some computer specs and "pick the one we wanted". He was a very frugal man and told me to make sure it would "last me though college". That was probably a bit naive, but neither of us knew any better. Today I have a "computer" with a much faster processor, more RAM, more storage space, and a significantly faster Internet connection -- it fits in my pocket and I call it a "smartphone".

It really is amazing, the technology that we take for granted. Here at Lifetime Products, we've always used technology to solve problems -- not just because it's "cool" -- though a lot of it is really, really cool! Such is the case with smartphones and tablets!

home.jpgIf you have an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or Windows Phone 7 we have an app for you! Our apps put our information about all our products literally at your fingertips. Since the beginning, our iOS app has let you carry that information with you without requiring an Internet connection. That can come in handy if your tablet only has WiFi in it and you're away from a hotspot, or when you're inside one of those big box stores and your 3G/4G signal can't get through all the concrete and metal around you. Of course, when you are connected, we take the opportunity to update our product catalog so you'll always have the latest information right where you need it.

Our Windows Phone 7 app, however, had to be connected to the 'net to get product details. It was a technological limitation at the time. Now, with Windows Phone 7.5, that limitation has been lifted and we've been updating our app to take advantage of the new off-line capabilities!

If you have a Windows Phone you can grab the new version from the Windows Marketplace.

What about the web you ask?  The Lifetime Store online (www.buylifetime.com) is now mobile-friendly! Yes, you can now buy our products right from your phone or tablet, anywhere that you have an Internet connection -- yes, even there.

Background: You’ve always wanted to know who on earth Joe is, and even if you haven't we're going to tell you anyway! He was born in Weber County, Utah, USA. He is a descendant of Paiute (Native American) heritage and is a member of the Kanosh (Utah) Band. He is a member of various community, church, and civic organizations, and is actively involved with local, state, and national government. He is concerned with customer service and is striving to educate businesses concerning proper “consumer etiquette”. How does he do it all? We really don’t have the foggiest. Some have suspected he’s discovered the secrets of cold fusion, while others think he may be an android. We may never know for certain.

You made a right step having created a mobile app. Mobile devices are more and more popular nowadays so it makes sense to create mobile apps so that people can reach you from their mobile devices.

We Went Wassailing...Sort Of
It's hard to believe that Christmas is almost here. We don't really have any big pre-holiday traditions of our own, but we do try to partake in some of the local festivities wherever we live. To help get us in the holiday spirit this year, we attended the annual Wassailfest one evening in a nearby town. You're probably thinking, "what in the world is a Wassailfest?" Don't worry, so were we! I've heardof the Christmas carol "Here We Come A Wassailing" but didn't really know much more.Once I read the lyrics and did a little more reading, everything made more sense!Wassail is a traditional European beverage, popular at the holidays. (It tastes kind of like hot apple cider.) Apparently, wassailing dates back to the middle ages as an earlyform of holiday charitable giving.Peasants would go caroling to each house carrying cups. Rich Snippets: Coming Soon to a Search Engine Near You!
Search engines not only display content, they spider web pages, gathering information from your pages, then re-work all that information into a listing that searchers see when they're looking for stuff -- and the cycle is complete. When a person goes to a search engine they have a good idea of what theyre looking for (otherwise they'll be on StumbleUpon, right?). With millions of search results being found and displayed, sometimes it's hard for people to find what they're looking for among all those results. To help combat that, Google is trying to show searchers more information about their search results. Information about information? That sounds a lot like meta-data! Yes, yes it does! Here at Lifetime, we're starting to roll out web pages that will take advantage of Google's "Rich Snippits" to get more information...
