Raising Hoops (and Funds) for Kids

VinsSJSA.jpgHere it is - my official blogging debut.  As the newest member of the Lifetime365 blog team, I'm looking forward to sharing some of my personal experiences and basketball product expertise with you.

'Tis the Giving Season!  And, if you're a regular reader of this blog, you already know that giving back is one of the things that is extremely important to Lifetime.  So, needless to say, I was excited to recently have the opportunity to participate in giving back on behalf of Lifetime at the South Jeffco Sports Association (SJSA)  Holiday Tournament in Lakewood, Colorado. SJSA is a nonprofit youth sports organization offering playing opportunities in various sports  to kids age 4-17.

The Holiday Tournament event was held at the Gold Crown Field House in Lakewood. The three-day tournament included boys and girls in grades 3-8.  It was very intense. To be a part of watching kids compete and show their teamwork was great to see. (And, a little humbling seeing some of their skills surpass  my abilities!)

As part of the event, Lifetime had a small booth where we raffled off a Lifetime Portable Basketball System.  Through our raffle, we were able to raise $210 for SJSA.  (And, of course, award one lucky winner with a new Lifetime Basketball Hoop!)SJSA2.jpg

We had a number of parents at our booth asking  us about all the different Lifetime Basketball Systems we make. It was awesome to be able to interact with the parents and chat with them about the different models we offer for the different age groups and skill levels competing.  Even though all of our portable basketball systems adjust in height, models are designed specifically to be ideal for beginners, intermediate, or advanced players depending on the features offered on the system such as size and type of backboards.  Educating our consumers about which hoop is best for them is important to Lifetime.

We are excited to partner with SJSA and look forward to continuing to work with these young kids in the future. To be able give back to the children was an amazing experience.

By the way, since I'm talking about basketball and giving, it's seems fitting that I remind you that we are still giving away basketball hoops in our 25 Hoops for 25 Years giveaway!  We have just a few more hoops to giveaway before the end of 2011.  So, if you haven't already entered - hurry and click here!

Life Is Short...So Are Adjustable Height Tables!
In my Spring Break post, I mentioned how my parents crammed their van full and drove from Ohio to Texas to stay in a condo on the beach in Port Aransas for the month of March. Let me tell you, they packed practically everything but the kitchen sink. Literally. Clothes, tool boxes, fishing poles, a laptop, a printer, bicycles, a sewing machine... and even a Lifetime table! Seriously! My mom packed her 4' fold-in-half adjustable height table so she could use it as her sewing table. (Thank goodness its compact for easy transportation because they needed every inch of cargo space they could get.) Mom set the table up right in front of the windows so she could enjoy the ocean view while she sewed. She loves to make quilts as a hobby, but I also took advantage of her skills and had her take tucks in some of my skinny-mini son's sh...
Garage Clean Out
Have you ever seen a garage that is so jam-packed with boxes and other stuff that theres no room to park a car in there? Wait. . .did I just describe your garage? In Arizona, where Ive lived for the last seven years, basements and attics are a rarity, which leaves the garage as the sole storage place. Not surprisingly, we see a lot of cars parked in the driveway! But it doesnt have to be that way. Assuming that you would LIKE to be able to park your car in your garage, let me ask you a few questions: Whats in your garage? A lot of things that end up in our garage are there because we just didnt have the courage to keep walking them to the curb. Look around. What do you see? To get a really good idea of what you have, group like items; for example, lawn and garden, camping equipment, holiday decorations, etc. Would you rath...
Will It Tip? Testing the Stability of a Lifetime Manta Kayak
In my last blog post, I showed you how a tandem Lifetime Manta Kayak compares in size to other kayaks. Today, I want to show you a little about the stability of this kayak. Last month my family tested the Manta Kayak for several days on Lake Erie. When I say family, I mean everyoneme, my husband, my kids, my nieces, my brother, my uncles, and my mom and dad. As you can see in the photos, we paddled the Manta in pretty much every weight combination and seating combination possible. The Lifetime Manta Kayak has a 500lb weight capacity and we tested it to its limits. We paddled it with one person, two people, three people and even four people! And, guess what? It didn't tip!The Lifetime Manta Kayak,orYellow Bananaas we now call it,is unbelievably stable. Even when one person would get on or off the kayak with others still sittin...
