Happy (Early) Father's Day to Our Shed Giveaway Winner!

7x7shed.jpgThanks to everyone who entered this month's giveaway to try and win the Lifetime 7'x7' Shed for their Dad for Father's Day.  We received some very touching stories about how much your Dads mean to you and why you wanted to win this shed for Dad.   But, in the end, the winner picked by random.org was Sonya R. of Knoxville, TX.  Congrats, Sonya.  We hope your husband enjoys this year's Father's Day present for years to come!

We also heard some great feedback about which features you liked best about this relatively-new Lifetime 7'x7' Shed.  By far (and not surprisingly), the feature most of you liked the best was the full-length roof skylight.  That's a pretty awesome addition to a shed!  Other popular answers were the shatterproof windows that open and the customizable shelving.

If you fell in love with this shed but weren't the lucky winner, don't worry - you can purchase this shed in our Lifetime Store online.  And, they actually have a shed sale going on now until June 30 -  receive a free solar shed light (a $50 value) with any shed purchase!  Simply enter freelight when you check out.  And, if the 7'x7' shed isn't the right size for you, be sure to check out our full line of storage buildings…we have some that are smaller and lots that are bigger - even big enough to fit a car inside!

If you still want to try and win Dad a Father's Day present, we have two more giveaways going on right now!  To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we're giving away 25 Lifetime Portable Basketball Hoops until the end of 2011.  Visit go.lifetime.com/25-hoops to enter.  And, if you visit lifeisasandcastle.blogspot.com before June 19,  you can enter to win a Lifetime 6' Folding Picnic Table - perfect for summer picnics, July 4th BBQs, and family reunions.  Good luck!

Just My Size!
Kids have a way of doing things that just make you smile. Its always surprising and amusing how even the tiniest of tots can be pretty resourceful. Take, for instance,my daughters witty idea a few weeks ago when we visited my family in Ohio. While we were up at their lake house, we ate almost every meal outside to enjoy the lake view and the beautiful weather. Plus, with six adults and five kids, we simply had more table space outside than inside. Typically, the adults would always sit at my parents patio table and chairswhile the kids would eat at the 6 Lifetime picnic table. Even though it wasnt a childrens Lifetime picnic table, all of the kiddos could reach just fine, except for my two-year-old daughter, Alyssa. She loves being like the big kids though so dont think for a second that size would stop her! Nope, usually...
Score! Basketball Hoop Fosters Positive Contact with Community Kids
One of the coolest things about working for a manufacturing company is that I get to make products that people love and use in their everyday lives. Having our headquarters in Clearfield, Utah gives Lifetime the opportunity to use our products and resources throughout the community. I am always happy when we can help someone out. We recently had the opportunity to do just that. This basketball story below is from our friend Anthony, from the Department of Corrections facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am grateful to Anthony for sharing this experience and hope they are enjoying the new basketball system! I bought a hoop in 2002 for our officers to use as a way to get in some exercise while at the office. We had no idea at the time it would transform into what it did.We used the hoop for some great interoffice tournaments w...
Compost your clippings! Garbage Stinks. Compost Doesn’t.
I had the very unpleasant experience recently of dumping excess lawn clippings directly into my garbage can. The can set out in the sun for a few days before I brought it into the garage. A few days later, WHOA! The can smelled like a skunk had stepped in dog doo-doo, rolled around in raw sewage, and then died in there. I was reminded once again, that lawn clippings should not go directly into the garbage can! I have a composter and do a fair amount of composting. To which, I add lawn clippings when I have brown material to balance it out. The ratio is 1 part green: 20 parts brown. I am often asked by people who dont compost if the compost stinks. The answer is no. That sounds strange because of the waste product that goes into making good compost, but its true. If the proportions of green and b...
