Lifetime Partners with UMFF Again for Memorial Day

flag and logo.jpgYou've probably already gotten this question... but how was your Memorial Day weekend?

Ours was great! As you probably read in our recent post, once again Lifetime partnered with the Utah Military Families Foundation (UMFF) to celebrate Memorial Day with our annual "Salute Our Troops" event. We put on a big sale at our Lifetime Store in Riverdale, complete with a free-throw contest, free ice cream, and kids activities-- with the goal to donate 5% of all proceeds to the UMFF. It was a blast! We're excited to announce that we even surpassed last year's donation for this great organization, and raised $1,712!

We are proud to have been able to contribute to a cause that helps military families in our own community.  Thank you to all veterans past and present who serve our country, and thanks to all of you who came out and made this year's event a success!

Bad News, Good News
Well, just when we think we have something figured out, plans always change. When we bought our house, we paid a little extra for our lot because of the abundance of trees. We were thrilled to find such a beautiful lot because the trees give us complete privacy from our neighbors, provide a gorgeous view from our family room and kitchen windows, and make for a unique play area for the kids. Unfortunately, over this past weekend, one of the tallest trees in our yard just up and died. No clue why. We happened to be playing with the kids in the back yard and noticed all the leaves on the Mountain Laurel treeare completely brown…which they aren’t supposed to be even though it’s autumn. Obviously, weare sad to loose such a big tree and we are hoping it’s not a disease that may spread to our other trees. But, on the bright side… w...

Lifetime Garden Beds Are BPA Free
Some of you have asked if the plastic panels on the Lifetime Raised Garden Bed contain BPA (Bishphenol_A). Good question! BPA is a plasticizer that is used in the manufacturing of PVC (Polyvinyl chloride, recycling type 3 7) and other polycarbonate plastics to make them flexible. It is used mostly in flexible PVC piping, toys, plastic bottles, and the lining of some canned goods. In 2008, BPA became controversial as research indicated that it may be dangerous to our healthespecially to babies. The US Food and Drug Administration has now taken steps to reduce human exposure to BPA in our food supply and food containers. The good news is thatLifetime's plastic garden bed panels and the frost coverDO NOT contain BPA. They are a Green Product. We use high-density polyethylene plastic (HDPE, recycling code type 2), and non toxic...
