What Makes A Folding Table Weather-Resistant?

water pic.jpgA few weeks ago I wrote a post with some basic questions to ask yourself before buying a folding table.  One of the questions was "Are planning on using your table inside, outside or both?" Obviously, choosing a weather-resistant table is important to consider if you'll be using your table outside.  So,  today I want to tell you a little bit more about what to look for if weather-resistance is a necessary feature for you.

Let's face it though, folding tables are most often used for occasions when extra seating or a temporary work surface is necessary… which usually means using one is not really "planned".  So, it's important to look at a table's protection against weathering and water damage no matter what your original intended purchase reason. Look for protection on any wood surfaces.  Water (or humidity) can often get between adhered protective layers and cause warping. This is why Lifetime's tables are made with a solid, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic tabletop. If you've never used a polyethylene table before, you're going to love them.  Polyethylene will not crack, chip or peel.  This means your folding table is virtually maintenance-free and can get wet with no worries whatsoever!  At Lifetime, we use a proprietary mix of polyethylene that makes our plastic top tables stronger, lighter, and more durable than wood.  It is also formulated to withstand extended wear and tear and the harshest elements.

Speaking of harsh elements, another feature to look for when considering tables for outdoor use is UV-inhibitors.  We all know to use sunscreen to protect our skin from UV rays, but did you know you should give your furniture the same protection?  Look for tables that are made with UV-inhibitors to help make the table resistant to heat and extended exposure to harmful UV rays of the sun to prevent fading and degradation.  (By the way, Lifetime's UV-protection is the best on the market!)

Lastly, after you've evaluated the weather-resistance of your tabletop, don't forget to look at the all-important table frame, too. Powder-coated metal (like what is used on Lifetime Tables) will prevent rusting and UV-damage when left outdoors. Lifetime's protective and decorative powder-coating is a proprietary formula that we have painstakingly tested with abrasion, adhesion, and environmental tests.  It makes our steel parts more resistant to chips, scratches, and regular wear-and-tear.

If you look for these qualities in your next folding table purchase, you'll have a table that's built to last, come rain or come shine.

How long at Lifetime- A small portion of my lifetime has been at Lifetime.

My favorite products from Lifetime- The Commercial Grade 6ft Fold-in-Half Table, and the Contemporary Folding Chair.  I also think the Fold-up Trailer is pretty spiffy – but until I get a vehicle with a hitch, this will not be a likely purchase.

Indoors at the Outdoor
For the past several years our company has participated in the Annual Outdoor Retailer Show at the Salt Palace in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. You’ll find the show filled with aisle after aisle of camping gear, climbing gear, custom water craft, outdoor apparel and the like. This year at our booth you would have also found our sweet Fold-Up Utility Trailer and our convertible Yard Cart. But anyone who’s been to a trade show knows that besides touting your own wares, half of the reason you’re there is to see what everyone else is doing. So while meandering through the multitude of retailers just trying to keep up on relevant trends, I happened across some of our tables. A configuration of several card tables made for a very practical and common use of our product – a convenient meeting area to discuss the business of the day....
Creating Additional Space in Your Home
As a real estate agent, I often hear from people who want a new home because theyve outgrown the current one. In some cases, people really do need larger homes, but other times, homeowners just need to use their propertyinside and outdifferently. In a tough economy, like the one were in, its especially important to understand that difference. Do you think youve outgrown your house, but cant afford to build an expensive home addition or move to something larger? Thankfully, there are alternatives. One significantly more budget-friendly option I recommend for people who decide to stay put (at least temporarily) is an outdoor storage building. A shed instead of a larger house? you may ask. Absolutely! A great shed, like the ones from Lifetime Products, can free up closets, cabinets, attics, garages and more for other uses. ...
Lifetime's New 65-Gallon Composter
Who loves composting? We do! Remember how we introduced the Lifetime 80-Gallon Composter last spring? Well, with its success we have designed a smaller version and are excited to announcethe Lifetime 65-Gallon Composter! We have kept all the same great features but just made it a little smaller. The Lifetime 65-Gallon Composter is constructed of UV-protected high-density polyethylene (HDPE) panels and is black with a galvanized steel base. Its extra large, removable lid makes it easy to load lawn and garden trimmings and organic waste. The lid latches shut to help keep rodents out and compost in. The ingenious tumbler design turns on an axis to allow for easy and balanced rotation. The aerated internal bar mixes compost and allows for air flow. Even if youve never composted before, what better time than now to start?! Plus,...
