backyards inc name change.jpgThings are starting to look a little different along the Wasatch Front in Utah, and I'm not just talking about the fresh layers of snow on the mountains.   We are excited to tell you that Backyards Inc., the Lifetime factory retail store, is changing its name to "Lifetime Store".

Start watching for the name change to take place over the course of the next four months with updates to all outdoor signage to be completed by February 2011.   For those of you who don't live in Utah, you'll see a change, too.  Our online store will soon share the Lifetime Store name to give customers a simpler shopping experience.

So why did we make this change?  Most importantly, for you - our customers!  Even though Backyards Inc. has always been owned by Lifetime, there was no easy way for our customers to instantly recognize Backyards Inc. as Lifetime’s factory retail store.  This also meant a lot you didn't know you can find full line of Lifetime products inside. So, by renaming the store and using the same Lifetime logo that's on all of our products, there is now an obvious connection between our products and our stores.  It's still the same great store, just a new name.

If you've never been to a Backyards Inc. store (now Lifetime Store), this is the perfect time to make a visit to find some great deals on holiday gifts!  We have six stores located throughout Utah in Clearfield, Draper, Orem, Riverdale, Taylorsville, and Salt Lake City.  The Lifetime Store showcases products made by Lifetime Products, including folding tables and chairs, basketball equipment, outdoor sheds, playground equipment, kayaks, and soccer goals. Because it is a factory store, the Lifetime Store carries both new and seconds, or blemished, of Lifetime products.  In addition, the Lifetime Store is the only Utah dealer to carry a full line of Backyard Adventure playsets!

The Great Wheelbarrow Showdown
The TaskSpread six yards of compost on our lawn. Since this was going to be some serious yard work, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to test the new Lifetime Wheelbarrow and Lifetime Yard Cart to see how they stack up against a traditional wheelbarrow. The Traditional WheelbarrowI started off by hauling one load of dirt with a traditional wheelbarrow with one wheel. I filled it full with 35 shovels of dirt. Right away, when I went to pick it up, it started to tip sideways on me and I really had to work to keep it from falling completely over. Once I got it balanced, I could push it pretty easily, but it was a constant struggle to maintain stability. Then came the tipping test. I pushed the wheelbarrow over, but had no control how far over it tipped. So, needless to say, I ended up with a large pile of dirt when ...
Pumpkin Basketball and Gourd Bowling
This past weekend we headed to a local pumpkin patch for our squadrons annual Fall Festival. It was an easy and fun way to celebrate autumn and Halloween without having to attend yet another costume party! Its tough to say what my kids favorite activity was because there were so many cute things to do. As soon as we got there, my daughter was immediately drawn to the Corn Box...a metal bin filled with corn instead of sand and loaded with buckets, shovels, and trucks. However, the Corn Box soon took a back seat as soon as she heard the sputtering sound of tractors and noticed there were hayrides and little cart rides. My son enjoyed winding through the hay maze and pumping the old-fashioned water pumps for the plastic duck races. And, naturally, they both took advantage of the free face painting. (Personally, I passed on the...
Boy Earns Eagle Scout Building Lifetime Shed
Happy Birthday BSA! The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated and chartered by the United States Congress on February 8, 1910. That means this week, they are 101 years old! Last year, they reached a large milestone as they turned 100! In the summer of 2010, Lifetime received a phone call from a 14-year-old Scout named Mason. He was calling on behalf of the Spectrum program at the local Burton Elementary School in Layton, Utah (very close to Lifetimes headquarters). Spectrum is a program designed to provide activities for children who are academically gifted. Among their activities, they put on a play once a year, which we hear is a great performance. But he wasn't calling to talk just about the program; he was calling because the local Spectrum program had a problem that was putting their annual play in jeopardy. He had he...
