Lifetime Acquires Kayak Company

We've been pretty busy at Lifetime this week and can finally tell you what all the commotion is about.  Lifetime is expanding into another new sporting goods industry…water sports!  Fun, huh?  Just this week, Lifetime acquired the assets of San Bernardino, CA-based Dragonfly Innovation, Corp. and its kayak products.

It's a move that just makes good sense for Lifetime.  Kayaks you say?  Yep, that's right. It's a great way to complement our other sporting goods lineup, which already includes basketball systems, soccer goals, and a tetherball set.  And, the kayaks work well with our plastics manufacturing expertise, since they are a blow-molded product.

Lifetime will manufacture the blow-molded kayaks in its Utah facility, which means the creation of more manufacturing jobs!   Plus, with Lifetime manufacturing kayaks, it's good news for consumers, too.  Just as Lifetime transformed the basketball industry with the first complete basketball system packaged in one box, we plan to bring innovation to the packaging of bulky kayaks to make them more widely available for easy mass distribution and retail.  Right now you can find Dragonfly kayaks nationally at Wal-Mart.com, Dicks Sporting Goods, Sports Authority and Fred Meyer. But, we'll soon have them available in Lifetime's Online Store and other retailers.

As with all products manufactured by Lifetime, the kayaks feature innovative and quality construction at some of the most affordable price points in the industry.  Dragonfly kayaks cater to beginners in kayaking and are uniquely designed to prevent tipping. They are available in a variety of sizes and designs, including both youth  and adult sizes.

We'll keep you updated on this exciting new product venture as more news splashes our way!

Rocks, Dirt and Wheelbarrows
TwoLifetime employeessubmitted some photos after levelingthe yardof their new homeusing one of Lifetimes Wheelbarrows they recently purchased. Jenn and Wes found themselvesall caught up over the weekend and thenevery day after work for a weekhauling dirt, raking out rocks, and landscaping the yard with rocks.Luckily they had a handful of willing helpers to getthe job done. We love thatLifetime Wheelbarrows have two wheels, are stable, and so easy to use, said Jen, Ourshas really come in handy. The first few days started with three truck loads of lava rock that was wheel barrowed and shoveled in to fill the curbing around the stairs and the island (This took 3 days of on and off work). And in the nextfew days they started filling in rocks under the back deck and along the side of the RV pad. They sprayed for weeds and grass, la...
My Composter is Dripping!
A lot of our customers often start asking us the same questions about composting around this time of year. One of the most common concerns we hear is that their Lifetime Composter is leaking. Long story short, this is normal. But, to really give you insight into why this is normal, AND what you can do with the leaking liquid, I've asked our Geekstyle blogger Joe to give you the scoop. (For those of you who don't know, Joe the Web Guy is also known as Joe the Green Guy when he's not on the Lifetime clock - with his own website called PathToGreenerLiving.com where he givestips for going greenincluding how to use some of Lifetime's Lawn Garden products.) From Joe: A lot of people have jumped on the home gardening band-wagon and are interested in starting to make their own compost. And why not? If you have a garden you have ga...
The All New Lifetime Power Flex - New Rim, New Adjustment Mechanism
The coolest thing about working at Lifetime Products is our dedication to innovate and make stuff that just doesn't exist yet. Our newest basketball system - the Power Flex System - is my favorite system that we make because of just that. In an industry that is saturated with competition, we were able to come up with an in-groundbasketball system that is unique in many ways. First, we started with the height adjustment mechanism. Our engineers were able to patent new technology with a gas-assist, triggerless handle adjustment called the Power Lift XL Height Adjust. This new Power Lift XL is similar to our existing Power Lift mechanism that Lifetime invented in 1996 - which was the first pneumatic height adjustment mechanism for basketball hoops. However, our new Power Lift XL has larger handle to help make raising and loweri...
