Park It in the Garage
Small gatherings of family and friends are not uncommon at our home. My wife really likes to entertain guests. However, inviting about 100 of our closest relatives during the heat of the day was a little bit of a stretch for our home, so I came up with a solution . . . overflow seating in the garage! Heres what happened: A few weeks ago, we decided to celebrate the birth of our 2 month old baby girl. We agreed to hold a casual party to celebrate this occasion with a few of our closest relatives. After the invite list ballooned to around 100 people, I realized my wifes definition of a few was much different than mine. It wasnt long before I realized the seating capacity of our home would not accommodate her expanding invite list.Due to time constraints, the only time the party could be held was in the middle of the afternoon....
Santa's Secret Shed
Shhhhhh. Don't tell my kids. The other day I talked with Santa at the mall and he informed me he is bringing my little girl a play kitchen. I'm so excited, she's going to love it! However, Santa was a bit concerned because the box is so big. He was worried that with such a big box he may not be able to fit everything in his sleigh on Christmas Eve. At first I thought there was no possible way I'd be able to hide a present that large at our house. WAIT! Ding, ding! I just remembered the new Lifetime shed that we built in our backyard. It'san8'x5' shedso it has plenty of room to hide a play kitchen box. However, my son does likes to play in there sometimes and pret...
Paddling Vacations
These days, taking a family on a vacation is no easy feat. Not financially and not logistically. It requires money, planning, and time! But it is totally worth it! Times are changing and so are vacation options. You dont need to go to Disney Land to have a great family experience. Why not plan a vacation around kayaking? Almost anywhere there is water, there is someone who rents kayaks. But, if you have your own, that is great! There are so many great paddling destinations in the United States it would take forever to list them all. The best part about a kayaking vacation is that you often get to experience a new place or situation that so many others dont get to! Kayaking out to a secret cove, or down a calm moving river in a desolate canyon are all great ways to bond with your friends and family, get exercise and have a fa...
