For most people, when they think about kayaking, they think of a day trip to the local lake.  Maybe a vacation day spent floating on the ocean, watching the birds and listening to the calm ocean ripples.  While these trips are great, with just a bit more effort, you can really turn a kayaking trip into a fun filled outdoor adventure. What better way to bond with your family or a group of friends then to be outside, away from all the electronic distractions, kayaking and camping in the wilderness.  There are several ways to enjoy a camping and kayak trip.  Some rivers flow through campgrounds, parks or national forest land allow camping right along the banks of the rivers.   This type of trip can be great for a weekend get-a-way.  Day one is spent paddling a few miles to ... I am very excited about Lifetime’s new Tent Trailer. Not so much because it is a tent trailer (although that part is very cool especially for the camping family) but I am excited because of its diversity. After years of looking and deciding, my wife and I purchased our first home this year. We purchased the home brand new and, let me tell you, there is a lot of yard work to be done. We have tons to do to get the yard looking its best. We have decided to add decorative rock, as well as sprinklers and sod. This new Lifetime Tent Trailer will be perfect to haul them all. Trees and shrubbery are a must. We haven’t figured out what kind of trees we want to get, but its nice to know I have away to pick them up from the nursery when we decide. Wait a minute. Hauling rock, sod, and trees in our tent trailer? Yes! See, t... More

Good friends help friends in need.  We had friends who needed to spread 13 yards of dirt on their lawn, so we loaned them our Lifetime Yard Cart to help make their work easier.  What?  Did you think I was going to say I offered to actually help spread the dirt?  Hey, I said we were good friends, not great friends!  (Just kidding. Marc & Jenna, we love you guys!) Truth be told, the Lifetime Yard Cart was practically screaming for Marc and Jenna to borrow it.  Why?  Because Marc and Jenna live on an acre lot AND they own a 4-wheeler that can pull the Yard Cart in the trailer mode.   This is the kind of dream job the Lifetime Yard Cart was built for.  The measly six yards of compost that we spread on our yard by pushing the Yard Cart like a wheelbarrow was mere child's p... I’ve written about the Lifetime Wheelbarrow in a couple of my posts (here and here), it really is a wonderful thing. Some readers have asked me if Lifetime has anything suited for larger projects or larger properties where a wheelbarrow (though effective) is inefficient. The answer is a wholehearted YES! Lifetime makes a small utility trailer and yard cart that works both as a cart and a trailer that you can pull behind an ATV or riding mower. The Yard Cart’s heavy-duty, extra-large tub can hold 10-cubic feet, is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic materials, and can haul up to 650 pounds. Let’s see your old wheelbarrow do that!         Now available with FREE SHIPPING from BuyLifetime.com. More

As a Utah native I am allowed to harp on Utah all I want. I do enjoy living here, but Utah has some funny quirks about it. Did you know Utahans eat more Jell-O per capita than anywhere else in the world? Not to mention the weird weather. We can have warm and sunny one day and a blizzard the next or even in the same day. When I was younger I actually snow skied and water skied in the same day. Weird weather was the case about a week ago when my wife and I decided to make a trip down to IKEA. As my loyal readers would know, all two of you, (thanks Mom, thanks Aunt Clara), I have been remodeling the basement for what seems like a lifetime. (No pun intended) We now have all of the major work complete and are starting to furnish it. The first priority was getting the kid’s toys organized so they could use the space to play... More

Have you ever thought a product was designed so well that it deserved a little recognition? We at Lifetime want you to think that about all our products, which is why we strive for excellence in the engineering and design everything we make. Sigh. So, I think I finally have my house and garage rearranged and organized to make room for all of the Christmas presents Santa brought. It was just a few things but, boy, they seemed to all be really big in size. As you know, I LOVE hosting garage sales. So, consequently, that means I insisted on storing everything we cleaned out until we have our garage sale in the spring. Luckily, we have two big attics in our house to stash all of our junk. But, I know lots of you don't have the luxury of an attic or basement so you have to haul your stuff to a storage building, or eliminate the hoarding all together and simply haul it to Goodwill or the dump. Oh, and I know how those multiple trips to storage buildings or the dump can get tiresome. Even a pickup truck can fill up fast. If this sounds all too familiar to you, maybe i... More

Fall Yard Sale Tips
Ive been to a lot of yard sales. At a recent one, I bought a 1921 replica Coca-Cola serving tray and made arrangements with a seller to pick up a refinished oak tool chest that I plan to use as a coffee table. After years of experience buying and selling, Ive also brought home what I call my three Ps for a successful yard sale: Planning, Presentation, and Pricing. Planning is crucial. If you sell it, they will come, right? Wrong. Run a classified ad in your local newspaper. Be sure to include popular and big-ticket items as well as the date, time, and location of your sale. Post a free listing at Craigslist.org also. Then make signs to put up at the nearest major intersections and other strategic spots to direct people to your sale. (Check with your local municipality or homeowners association first to make sure its okay to...

Lots of Americans will be rushing out this week to buy an extra table for their Thanksgiving feast and upcoming holiday dinners. Because of its size, one of the most popular folding table options on the market is the square table, often referred to as a card table. At Lifetime, we pride ourselves on constantly innovating and improving products. And, I am happy to share with you that Lifetime has made this popular temporary card table even more convenient to own, store, and transport thanks to afold-in-half design and a built-in carrying handle. The new Lifetime 34-Inch Square Fold-in-Half Table offers ample seating space for up to four guests, yet folds in half to just 17 inches to easily carry and fit in the trunk of the smallest car or a hallway closet. Utah's Historic Windy Day
Wow, what a week we just had. Lifetime is headquartered in Clearfield Utah. Clearfield is in North Davis County. Davis County, asyou may have heard on the national news, was the sight of some historically strong winds on Thursday, December 1. The mountains we have here typically shield us from things like tornadoes, but when the jet stream is just right, wind is forced up the Wasatch mountains and slams down on us. This only happens every 10 to 15 years. Early Thursday morning we woke up at my house to the fence missing, the trampoline missing, and flying debris. The winds were so strong that to go outside was dangerous as debris of all shapes and sizes was flying around. The National Weather Service said the winds reached up to 100 MPH. These are the same wind speeds you find in a category 2 hurricane. By the time it calmed...
