I just attended our annual sales conference last month.  During the conference, the main product categories of our company present category updates and strategic direction.  We also train the rest of the team and the sales force on our product, as well as why we have, and offer, what we do. One topic I covered during my presentation was the need for different table grades.  Our table grades allow us to sell quality product to different consumer segments.  At Lifetime, we tout ourselves on the fact that we offer the best product on the planet in each of our consumer segments.  We break our folding table lines into four different grades:  Professional, Commercial, Light Commercial, and Residential. Our Professional Grade product is our highest specified product, having the highest weigh... More

Happy Memorial Day!  From all of us here at Lifetime, we wish to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to all of the men and women who bravely serve, or have served, our country.  It is because of your courage and sacrifice for our country's freedom that we are able to celebrate today. Today is a day many of us celebrate with barbeques, parades, shopping sales, and fun with friends and families.  However, may we all also take time to reflect on the true meaning of this day.  We also wish to extend congratulations to Michele A. of Kingstown, RI who is the lucky random winner of our Lifetime Payette Kayak giveaway!  Thanks to everyone who entered.   If you are looking for a fun way to enjoy the water this summer, you can find the entire line of Lifetime Kayaks and Paddleboards a... Every year, the Lifetime sales and marketing team attends an internal Sales and Marketing Conference.  This year, things were a bit different. We had 30 kayaks and paddle boards to test paddle at Sand Hollow - one of the most scenic reservoirs in Utah. It is exhausting just to think about…..exhausting in a good way, of course! To kick things off with our kayak training a few weeks ago, we began with a training clinic and question and answer period. Many of our employees are just like you -  they are a beginner or are just getting into the sport of kayaking.  Our more advanced staff members were excited to help out as well. This was exciting for me as I love to share my love of paddle sports with anyone who will listen…….or paddle. :)  I discussed paddle t... We've been sharing a lot of new products with you lately... so you know our engineers have been busy.  Guess what?  We aren't the only ones who have noticed. Earlier this month, Lifetime was honored at the Utah Genius Awards ceremony as one of the Top 20 Patent Companies in Utah for 2011! The Utah Genius Awards are held annually and recognize the creative people and companies  behind Utah's economy.  The awards are based on objective statistics from the U.S. Patent and Trademark office, not votes. Last year Lifetime earned 20 new patents for our product inventions including patents for our basketball height adjustment, edge & corner for our table, and our playset. These new patents join our extensive patent portfolio of more than 500 patents worldwide.  It takes a lot of time and effor... More

This giveaway has ended. We've been telling you about our new Lifetime Payette Kayaks for several weeks now on this blog and Facebook.  It's our first sit-inside Lifetime kayak and it was even feature on The Price is Right in the Showcase Showdown a few weeks ago! I had the opportunity to try one these new kayaks for the first time last week at our annual sales conference... and it was great!  It's a nice size (116" long) and has a seat back, front and rear shock cords, footrests and a paddle cradle.  It even has a cool cargo holder with a cover that's perfect for your camera, keys, a coat, lunch, and more.  But, instead of us just telling you about, we decided it's better to let you actually try it for yourself. So, since summer is just around the corner, this month we are giving away a Lifeti... More

A few weeks ago, I traveled down to Las Vegas, Nevada to attend the National Hardware Show. This show is a annual exhibit of manufacturers of Lawn and Garden products, as well as other miscellaneous products. Of course, I was most interested in the array of Lawn and Garden products. I felt a little guilty being there, as I was technically there for work but secretly looking around for myself. There are so many new and innovative products coming out for the yard. Fortunately, I flew down there so I didn't have room in my suitcase to buy anything and bring it back. I don't typically use this word, but "giddy" is a good description about how seeing all of these products made me feel about Spring starting and all the gardening I am soon going to be able to do! Lifetime had a large booth at the show, displaying our awesome L... More

We need to do some spring cleaning and you can help. We are offering our blog readers a 40% discount off the regular price of our kids picnic tables. If you think your kids would enjoy one of these awesome little picnic tables, now is the time to buy. I recently had the privilege to attend the 125th Anniversary Gala for the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce. For 125 years, the Salt Lake Chamber has been Utah’s business leader and currently represents over 7,700 Utah businesses. As a member of the Chamber, Lifetime Products was able to send a representative to the gala and celebrate the rich history of businesses that have made Utah great. The gala program was set up as a historical view of Utah businesses in a “Late Night Show” format that included: interviews, special guests, a Top Ten list, live music and more. Throughout each segment, they also featured key businesses with short informational videos. Lifetime Products was lucky enough to be one of the businesses featured throughout the program. It was great to see how our company fits in with other busine... More

Our Chinese New Year Celebration
Occasionally our family likes to take a time out from our usual dinner routine and enjoy something unique from a culture different than ours. Last week, since Chinese New Year was in full swing, we thought it would be a great opportunity to enjoy a part of the rich Chinese culture. Oftentimes we celebrate with extended family or a couple of families in our neighborhood but this year we decided to try something a little more trouble-free and just celebrated with our little family. We started by bringing one of our Lifetime 6 foot folding banquet tables up from the basement and placing it (with the legs unfolded) on a couple of short storage bins. This allowed the table to sit about 18 inches from the ground. Although sitting on the floor isnt necessarily a dining practice in the Chinese culture, some close friends started doing...
Favorite Room In My House
We moved to a new house two years ago and I love it! Out of the entire house, guess which room my favorite? Ok, trick question…it’s not even really a room. It’s the closet in our office! It’s a large walk-in closet with two doors and a window. I use one side for storage of big things like suitcases, our baby pack-n-play, etc. The other side is my own little niche….my craft closet. Most of the crafts I do are just small paper type crafts (handmade cards, invitations, etc.) so I don’t need a lot of room or fancy supplies. Most people laugh at me and ask why I don’t just use the entire office as my craft room. Well, as I’ve mentioned before, I love to be organized so it’s crucial to my sanity that I don’t leave projects-in-process just laying around where I can see all of the clutter. So, turning the closet into my craft close...
Lifetime Products: A “Lean” Manufacturing Leader - Learns from Toyota
Three of our executives--President, COO, and VP of Research Development--recently had the opportunity to visit Toyotas assembly plant in Japan. Their visit was not to see how cars and trucks are built, but rather to learn more about Toyotas Lean manufacturing ways. Lean is a term used frequently here at Lifetime. Basically, Lean is centered on preserving value with less work. Lifetime has been implementing Lean methods for more than ten years however; there has been renewed emphasis the past two years. Some of which include flow of material and plant layout. The concept of Lean manufacturing is growing in popularity around the world but it originally derived from the Toyota Production System (TPS) in Japan. Our executives said Japan, in general, is an unbelievably clean and neat country which is directly reflected in their ...
