With winter in full-swing, that does not mean you need to quit composting. Composting in the winter and cold temperatures is still possible with these helpful tips: Keep your composter in the sun as much as possible. This is probably the same place you have had it all summer, but with the angle of the sun changing as it does during the winter, you may need to take another look and adjust the placement of your Lifetime Composter. For winter composting, keeping your compost a little on the dry side may also help. This can be achieved by modifying your typical brown versus green ratios to a little more heavy on brown. Moisture in the compost mix is necessary but too much will freeze and slow down the helpful composting bacteria, or put these bacteria into hibernation. So, a touch dryer during the winter is better. It’s that time of year again for a lot of us.  Time to store that kayak away for the cold cold winter.  We are often asked about how to store a kayak while it is not being used, especially during the chilly winter months.  So today, I am here to offer up some winter kayak advice! First piece of advice, kayaks are not for sledding!  They go fast but they don’t like the cold, so keep them off of the snow!  Ok, now for the real tips.  As always, make sure you wash your kayak after use.  This is especially important when you will be putting it into storage for several months.  Mild dish soap and water works just fine, no need for fancy cleaners.  Make sure you remove sand and dirt, even from those little crevices. And, just think about how nice it will be to pull this baby... More

New Assembly Instructions Page on www.lifetime.com
At Lifetime, we're always looking for ways to improve our website to make it easier for you to use. Most recently, we overhauled how customers access our assembly instructions in the Customer Care section of Lifetime.com. Why is this a big deal? Well, Lifetime makes a lot of products, and we're continually finding ways to improve upon them to make them easier to assemble, less expensive, and for various other reasons. When these improvements are made, we have to publish a new version of the assembly instructions for that product. On the surface, that's not a big deal because the instructions get printed and packaged inside the box with the rest of the parts. But what happens when a customer loses the instructions? In the past, we've only shown one version of the assembly instructions on our website -- which may or may not ma...
My Composter is Dripping!
A lot of our customers often start asking us the same questions about composting around this time of year. One of the most common concerns we hear is that their Lifetime Composter is leaking. Long story short, this is normal. But, to really give you insight into why this is normal, AND what you can do with the leaking liquid, I've asked our Geekstyle blogger Joe to give you the scoop. (For those of you who don't know, Joe the Web Guy is also known as Joe the Green Guy when he's not on the Lifetime clock - with his own website called PathToGreenerLiving.com where he givestips for going greenincluding how to use some of Lifetime's Lawn Garden products.) From Joe: A lot of people have jumped on the home gardening band-wagon and are interested in starting to make their own compost. And why not? If you have a garden you have ga...
