Contrary to popular opinion, Lifetime doesn't have a magic machine that takes raw-materials in one side, and spits out award winning products on the other side. Instead, we have a talented team of people working in various locations across not only the United States of America, but across the globe, as well. Most of you probably know that Lifetime is the industry leader in residential basketball hoops and polyethylene folding tables and chairs. But, they are also a recognized industry leader in our corporate IT capabilities. In fact, because of our cutting-edge standardization practices, HP recently showcased Lifetime in an international case study to help teach other companies about the benefits of standardization and centralization. Pretty cool. Traditionally, multinational companies have large and unnecessarily redu... More

With the start of a new school year, parents tend to have a lot on their mind. One topic that seems to come up a lot is playground safety. Although Lifetime doesn’t influence school ground safety, Lifetime does make a variety of home playground equipment built specifically with your child’s safety in mind. We have rubberized chain grips on our swing sets and playsets to prevent little fingers from being caught or pinched, and all hard edges have been rounded or covered. Our UV-protected, powder-coated steel and high-density polyethylene are heat resistant and will not burn kids on a sunny day like many metal or plastic outdoor toys. Our playground equipment passes all playground safety standards to ensure your child’s safety. Our playground equipment is built durable and safe; however, it is also important ... More

Last week, we journeyed to Ohio for our annual summer vacation to visit my parents. While we were there, Lifetime shipped me a Lifetime Manta tandem kayak to use so I could share some personal experiences and reviews with you. But, before we could legally use the Lifetime Manta Kayak in Ohio public waters, we had to register it as a watercraft with the State of Ohio. Ideally, the process should be quick… although, unfortunately, the day we went the service wasn't exactly speedy or friendly.  But, we simply filled out a form with our contact information and kayak information, paid $25 for a 3 year registration (cost may vary with each state), and received our registration number and tag decal. Then, we headed to Walmart to buy the numbers to stick on the side of the kayak.  That's it.  Done.&nb... More

This giveaway has ended. Sadly, summer is almost over and Labor Day is just around the corner.  Labor Day is officially a federal holiday and a day of rest created to recognize our country's workers.  But,  it seems it is more often recognized as a day to signify the last day of summer with one last hooroh.  So, since most Labor Day celebrations traditionally include a picnic or BBQ, this month we're going to give away a Lifetime 44-Inch Round Picnic Table!  The Lifetime 44-Inch Round Picnic Table offers a unique twist to the standard picnic table.  And, yes, I mean that literally because the benches on this table twist, or rather swing, outward for easy seating access for up to six adults!  This open frame design provides a stylish look and increases legroom.  It also allow... A lot of our customers often start asking us the same questions about composting around this time of year. One of the most common concerns we hear is that their Lifetime Composter is leaking.  Long story short, this is normal.  But, to really give you insight into why this is normal, AND what you can do with the leaking liquid, I've asked our Geekstyle blogger Joe to give you the scoop.  (For those of you who don't know, Joe the Web Guy is also known as Joe the Green Guy when he's not on the Lifetime clock - with his own website called PathToGreenerLiving.com where he gives tips for going green including how to use some of Lifetime's Lawn & Garden products.) From Joe: A lot of people have jumped on the home gardening band-wagon and are interested in starting to make their own compost. And why no... More

When coordinating Lifetime's semi-annual company meeting, I can get caught up in the details rather than appreciating the meeting for what it is. This past Saturday, as I peered from behind my laptop into a sea of more than 800 blue “25 Years” Lifetime T-shirts, it hit me. Our semi-annual meeting is a unique program— one of the few times each year when people from all shifts and departments gather together and hear company updates, see new and upcoming products, and take part in Lifetime’s Profit Sharing program. But I believe there is more to this meeting than what meets the eye... In the 45 times Lifetime has held this meeting, and the years that I have had the pleasure in taking part, I have come to realize what it means. It’s our commitment to producing high-quality products. It&rsqu... More

The Pre-School Experiment
If you run a pre-school, a day care, or just have children at home, you probably know all too well what creative littleones can do to furniture. I neither have children, nor have I taught children. But Ive seen Daddy Day Care and that was enough to know that things break when children are invited to do their worst. If children were to work with our Research and Design lab, I think theyd come up with some interesting new tests. I remember using Lifetime Banquet Tables as slides in our game room. Then my sisters and I would put foam mats on top of them and use them as tall beds for sleepovers. I have a vague memory of reenacting the princess and the pea once lucky for me, no injuries were incurred. Anyway, the other day a co-worker gavegave mean ingenious idea-- The Pre-School Experiment. She suggested that we donate a Lifetim...
How to Make A Waterproof Banner in Minutes
Sometimes I just amaze myself with how stinkin creative I am! Just kidding. But, I must say though, I am pretty tickled with the clever idea I came up with last week. Our neighborhood was having a community garage sale, and two days before the sale, the HOA president agreed with my suggestion to hang a banner on the fence at the entrance of the subdivision to help advertise the sale. We are located right behind a school so lots of parents turn around in our subdivision to drop-off/pick-up their children. So, we wanted the banner to be out on Thursday and Friday to catch the school traffic. Since I was the one to suggest a banner, I felt obligated to volunteer to check on banner pricing. Unfortunately, a one-day turnaround was not going to work in our favor, unless we wanted to pay through the nose. ...which we didnt want to ...
Fall Yard Sale Tips
Ive been to a lot of yard sales. At a recent one, I bought a 1921 replica Coca-Cola serving tray and made arrangements with a seller to pick up a refinished oak tool chest that I plan to use as a coffee table. After years of experience buying and selling, Ive also brought home what I call my three Ps for a successful yard sale: Planning, Presentation, and Pricing. Planning is crucial. If you sell it, they will come, right? Wrong. Run a classified ad in your local newspaper. Be sure to include popular and big-ticket items as well as the date, time, and location of your sale. Post a free listing at Craigslist.org also. Then make signs to put up at the nearest major intersections and other strategic spots to direct people to your sale. (Check with your local municipality or homeowners association first to make sure its okay to...
