Here it is - my official blogging debut.  As the newest member of the Lifetime365 blog team, I'm looking forward to sharing some of my personal experiences and basketball product expertise with you. 'Tis the Giving Season!  And, if you're a regular reader of this blog, you already know that giving back is one of the things that is extremely important to Lifetime.  So, needless to say, I was excited to recently have the opportunity to participate in giving back on behalf of Lifetime at the South Jeffco Sports Association (SJSA)  Holiday Tournament in Lakewood, Colorado. SJSA is a nonprofit youth sports organization offering playing opportunities in various sports  to kids age 4-17. The Holiday Tournament event was held at the Gold Crown Field House in Lakewood. The three-day tournament included boys ... More

We hope lots of you have Lifetime products on your Christmas lists this year!  If you do, hopefully, the instruction manual included with your product will answer any questions you may have, especially regarding assembly instructions.  And, just in case you accidentally throw your instructions away with the giant heap of wrapping paper, we even have most of our assembly instructions online.  Whew!  If you need still need extra help after reading the instruction manual, be to also check out the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page on www.lifetime.com.  If you can't find your answer online or you simply want to talk to someone in person, Lifetime's Customer Service department is always happy to help.  However, just like you, it is important to us for our employees to celebrat... I'm guessing a lot of our readers will pull out their Lifetime folding tables and chairs to use as extra seating for holiday dinners and parties this month.  Well, no need for me to pull out ours - we are already using them every day! That's right.  We have a new kitchen table and chairs in our house.  For the past few weeks - and for the next month or so - we are using our Lifetime 37-Inch Square Folding Table and Lifetime Contemporary Folding Chairs for our kitchen table and chairs.  No, I'm not doing consumer research for Lifetime.  We are getting ready to move in a few weeks and our old kitchen table and chairs were too big for our new kitchen eating space, so we sold them at our garage sale a few weeks ago.  And, we don’t want to buy a new one until we get to our new house and re... Wow, what a week we just had. Lifetime is headquartered in Clearfield Utah. Clearfield is in North Davis County. Davis County, as you may have heard on the national news, was the sight of some historically strong winds on Thursday, December 1. The mountains we have here typically shield us from things like tornadoes, but when the jet stream is just right, wind is forced up the Wasatch mountains and slams down on us. This only happens every 10 to 15 years. Early Thursday morning we woke up at my house to the fence missing, the trampoline missing, and flying debris. The winds were so strong that to go outside was dangerous as debris of all shapes and sizes was flying around. The National Weather Service said the winds reached up to 100 MPH. These are the same wind speeds you find in a category 2 hurricane. By the time it ... More

I think I now know how Santa must feel on Christmas morning.  Wow! It was such a great feeling when I shared the news yesterday with three lucky people that they were the random winners in our Lifetime Store gift certificate giveaway.  Being able to help make someone's holiday a little merrier is such a wonderful, heartwarming experience. Congratulations to our winners who will get to enjoy shopping in the Lifetime Store with their gift certificates: $400 - Kristi F. of Herriman, Utah $200 - Mary W. of DeLand, FL $100  - Michael T. of Ogden, Utah Thank you to everyone who entered our final monthly giveaway of 2011.  It was so interesting to see all of the variety of products you were planning to buy with your gift certificates.  Basketball hoops, sheds, swing sets, compos... Still searching for that perfect Christmas gift to give your parents, grandparents, or your spouse?  Here's an idea - how about a cozy Lifetime Glider Bench? Last year, I gave my Dad the Lifetime Glider Bench for Christmas. I purchased the original Lifetime Glider Bench because it matched the Lifetime Picnic Table they have in their back yard.  (The Lifetime Glider Bench is also available in a Wood Alternative version that looks like real wood slats.) My Dad put his new Lifetime Glider Bench under a huge tree in the backyard at his lake house so he can sit under the shade and watch the lake. This summer when my family went home to visit, we all took turns at some point relaxing and gliding on the bench to watch the soothing waves on the lake, the crackling fire pit, or a friendly game of Cornhole.  But, ...  This giveaway has ended. This week, we asked fans on our Facebook page what product they would like us to giveaway for our final monthly giveaway of 2011. It turns out, when you make so many great products, you get many great answers!  The majority of you wanted us to giveaway a shed.  But, picnic tables, swingsets, raised garden beds, and tables and chairs were also voted as favorites. Oh, decisions, decisions.  Sigh.  Know what?  Since it's the Christmas season and many of you have products from Lifetime on your list that you want to give (either to someone else or just yourself),  I think it would be much more fun to give away gift certificates to the Lifetime Store so YOU can pick whatever product (or maybe even more than one) you want! So, we'll be giving away not one, not two, but ... More

Scrapping old Memories; Making New
Scrapbooking for 3 days straight maysound like a weird form of torture... but even after the paper cuts, late nights, and reeeeally early mornings,I look forward toittwice a year. My familys crazy little tradition is called "Scrapbook Weekend". If youre anything like me; you have a busy schedule, a suffering photo album, talkative friends and family, and an endlessappetite for good cooking. Scrapbook Weekend givesme the chance to learn new layouts, trade materials, or just catch-up on all my photos. Twice a year, all my aunts and cousins (about 18-20 people total) drive to my moms house with cars full photos, paper supplies, and the fixin's for some great food. We load all the food in the fridge, spread out our cutters, paper, pictures and embellishments on about 6 or 7 Lifetime tables, and camp out for 3 days stacking page...
Ambassador Huntsman Tours Lifetime China Facility and EcoHouse
Last week, I had the honor of traveling to Xiamen, China, to show our factory and new EcoHousing Initiative to Jon Huntsman Jr., previous governor of Utah and current Ambassador to China. The tour of our Xiamen facility was well organized and I could not be more pleased with the way things turned out. A bit of history. In 2008, we opened a wholly-owned and operated facility in Xiamen, China. This means we have tight control over product quality. This is a huge distinction and big advantage over imitation "Lifetime" products made in China by other companies. By having our own manufacturing facility overseas, we can be more globally competitive and more effectively and profitably manage our international sales and distribution to the more than 52 countries we sell products to worldwide. Being wholly-owned also means the facili...
From Factory to Floor to You
Over the years, weve told you about how our blow-molded products are made, and how our metals are powder-coated to protect them, but how does the whole process work, anyway? I certainly didn't know before I started working for Lifetime. But, here at the Freeport Center, all your products begin from scratch. When I was first hired, I had the chance to tour the entire facility. And it was probably one of the most amazing things Ive ever seen. No kidding. Did you know that in our blow-molding facility, our High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)plastic starts out as beads that are pumped from the trains to the building silos? The beads are melted and poured into the blow-molding forms. When the formed part comes out, Lifetime employees remove excess plastic and prepare them for assembly. In metals, our roll-former slowly rolls and fo...
