Many homeowners are concerned about the environment and are looking for ways to maintain their yard without having to use harmful chemicals. One area that gets a lot of attention is the lawn. With an organic lawn care approach, gardeners are finding they can have a thick, lush, and green lawn that’s safe for wildlife, pets, and people too. The keys to success include: growing the right grass variety for your area, aerating, dethatching, feeding your lawn properly, and mowing your lawn at the right height. Here’s what to do to transition into growing a healthier lawn: Use the Right Grass—Grow grass varieties adapted to your climate. In the North, choose cool season grasses, such as Kentucky bluegrass, tall fescue, and perennial ryegrass. In the South, use warm season grasses such as, Bermuda grass, St. Augus... More

Because I always love hearing how much people love Lifetime Products, I just HAD to contact the great woman mentioned in my last post, and hear more about our tables! :) Heather (shown above working at an Earth Day event with her little boy-- a shy guy in this photo!) is with Slow Food Utah and is powering a "Good, Clean, Fair food movement", a global organization with grassroots efforts to link people with information about the food in their community and the environment. One of Slow Food's lesser known initiatives is the "Slow Food in Schools", a garden-to-table program that helps children develop an appreciation for real, wholesome food and an understanding of sustainable food practices.  Heather told me more about her Lifetime 6 foot fold-in-half &nb... Earth Day is one of those things I learned about in elementary school. I remember running home to tell my mom that each drop of water we waste actually becomes a gallon of wasted water for the earth! Like my mom reacted at the time, I now don't think that's true. My first grade brain must have exaggerated the concept. For this year's Earth Day, I decided to volunteer at the local nature center's event, helping with a craft table for children making magazine bead necklaces. Lots of fun! Volunteers before me had made thousands of beads and even sorted them by color. Looking around, I spotted a couple Lifetime tables. I asked one of the vendors a little about her booth then let her know I work for the company who made her table. She immediatley beamed "I love this table!" and went on ... More

Lifetime makes several different styles of folding chairs. The two most popular are our original Contoured Folding Chair and our newer Contemporary Folding Chair.   I happen to own both of them, so I thought I would take a few up-close photos to show you how they stack… uh, I mean fold…up to each other. First, if you've never sat in a Lifetime folding chair, you should.  Lifetime has conducted numerous focus groups and consumer surveys where we line up various styles of folding chairs…ours, metal, padded, etc.  While the Lifetime chair may not look comfortable, once people take a seat, they quickly change their mind. Why are Lifetime chairs so comfortable?  Easy.  First and foremost - size.  Take a look at this first picture.  See?  A Lifetime folding cha... More

This past Saturday was yard day at our house.  Nine solid hours of pruning trees, trimming bushes, pulling weeds, planting flowers, and spreading mulch.  (Why didn't someone remind me that my hamstrings will be extremely sore from bending over all day.  It's been two days and I still can't sit down without using my arms to lower myself!) It's the project we tackle every spring.  I actually look forward to it. I love being outdoors and feeling productive.  (Of course, that enthusiasm quickly fades after the first few hours which is why we plow through it all in one day.)  Our backyard has several "forests" as my kids call them, which are really just large clusters of trees with mulch around them.  Very pretty, but it requires a lot of mulch - over three yards (... Making a Difference in Our Community
May 5, 2012 was not only Cinco de Mayo but also a big day here at Lifetime Products.More than900 of my fellow Lifetime co-workers and I had the opportunity to give back to our community by participating in Lifetimes 7th Annual Community Service Project. This year, we helped clean and beautify the Utah State University Botanical Center in Kaysville, Utah. After initial groundwork preparation by over 75 employees on Friday evening, 880 employees arrived in florescent yellow shirts (looking like tennis balls from afar) armed with gardening tools on Saturday morning and got to work by removing debris, rocks, and weeds; planting flowers, grass and trees; cleaning ponds; painting fences, bridges and gates and spreading bark to help beautify and improve the center's 1,000 acre grounds, gardens, and facilities for local residents. Recreational Kayaking is Fun and Safe For the Family
Recreational kayaking is a fun and safe way for the whole family to enjoy the outdoors. Many people are a little apprehensive when they hear the word "kayaking." They imagine people dropping off of 20 foot waterfalls and paddling through big wavy rapids. But that isnt the only way to kayak. In fact, the largest segment of kayaking is within the recreational sector. What is recreational kayaking? Recreational kayaking refers to paddling on flat water lakes, bays, slow-moving calm river ways, and calm oceans. No rapids involved! Flat-water paddling is a safe way to enjoy the water. Another misconception about kayaking is the Eskimo roll, which is another aspect of kayaking that only applies to whitewater or sea kayaking. Recreational kayaks are not meant to roll and they are not designed to keep you inside if you should flip y...
