This contest has ended! Surprise!  We just finished our March contest last week, and here we are again already announcing April's contest.  We have a good reason for starting so soon…it's a Spring contest!  Ok, really it's Spring and/or Easter. This month we're giving prizes to two winners...and that's not an April Fool's Day joke!   So, time to put on your creative hat and show us your own favorite homemade Spring/Easter craft.  It can be any sort of craft…paint it, sew it, stuff it….make it for you, make it for kids…hang it on a door, or put it on your table.  We don't care what type of craft it is, just as long as it's original, creative, and related to Spring and/or Easter. This contest is reader’s choice. After the ent... More

For most of us in the Lifetime family, winter is on its way out. What does that mean? Time to start cooking compost! For those who don’t know, Lifetime Products makes a Composter! (You can read all about it in my previous post.) The question was asked “How do I separate my compost from my non-composted organic matter?” Good question! First would be getting another composter. One composter would be  for actually making compost in while the other would be for filling up. When you’re done making compost in one, you can empty it and start using it as your “filler” and the other as your “composter”. Of course, this means buying two of our composters, which we wouldn't mind at all. ;) The second idea is what I do with my single Lifetime Composter at my house. I c... More

The beautiful thing about gardening is, in one way or another, everyone is a beginner. Even if you’ve been gardening your whole life, there’s something new to learn about growing different kinds of plants, growing in different climates, or dealing with new pests. If you’re just starting out and contemplating planting a tomato, rose, or petunia, don’t be intimidated.  Trial and error are the best ways to learn. For example, I tried multiple ways to rid my yard of moles. I tried baits, traps, and even vibrating mole repellants to no avail. It wasn’t until I tried castor oil, that I was able to convince the moles to move away. Here are some tips on getting started in the vegetable or flower garden. Follow these 5 S’s and you’ll be well on your way to a productive, beautiful garden.... More

Mr. Moneybags Steps Up to the (Lifetime) Table
Who doesnt love a good game of MONOPOLY? At the 2009 MONOPOLY U.S. National Championship, held on April 14 and 15 in Washington, DC, the focus was on the game and the pressure was on for the 28 finalists. Up for grabs was $20,580, which is equivalent to the bank in a standard game of Monopoly. To ensure that no wobbly tables stood in the way of their peak performance, Lifetime provided the tournament with twelve 37-inch square fold-in-half card tables. (Check out the picture to see them all set up and ready for competitive play). These tables turned out to be perfect for the intense game. Their fold-in-half frames lock automatically, so they could stand up to the players table slaps of excitement and fist pounds of frustration. They also come with a convenient carrying handle, making tournament setup and cleanup a snap (lite...

Winter Kayak Storage Tips
Its that time of year again for a lot of us. Time to store that kayak away for the cold cold winter. We are often asked about how to store a kayak while it is not being used, especially during the chilly winter months. So today, I am here to offer up some winter kayak advice! First piece of advice, kayaks are not for sledding! They go fast but they dont like the cold, so keep them off of the snow! Ok, now for the real tips. As always, make sure you wash your kayak after use. This is especially important when you will be putting it into storage for several months. Mild dish soap and water works just fine, no need for fancy cleaners. Make sure you remove sand and dirt, even from those little crevices. And, just think about how nice it will be to pull this baby out in the spring for its maiden run when it is so squeaky clean! ...
