This contest has ended! Surprise!  We just finished our March contest last week, and here we are again already announcing April's contest.  We have a good reason for starting so soon…it's a Spring contest!  Ok, really it's Spring and/or Easter. This month we're giving prizes to two winners...and that's not an April Fool's Day joke!   So, time to put on your creative hat and show us your own favorite homemade Spring/Easter craft.  It can be any sort of craft…paint it, sew it, stuff it….make it for you, make it for kids…hang it on a door, or put it on your table.  We don't care what type of craft it is, just as long as it's original, creative, and related to Spring and/or Easter. This contest is reader’s choice. After the ent... More

For most of us in the Lifetime family, winter is on its way out. What does that mean? Time to start cooking compost! For those who don’t know, Lifetime Products makes a Composter! (You can read all about it in my previous post.) The question was asked “How do I separate my compost from my non-composted organic matter?” Good question! First would be getting another composter. When you’re done making compost in one, you can empty it and start using it as your “filler” and the other as your “composter”. Of course, this means buying two of our composters, which we wouldn't mind at all. ;) The second idea is what I do with my single Lifetime Composter at my house. I c... More

The beautiful thing about gardening is, in one way or another, everyone is a beginner. Even if you’ve been gardening your whole life, there’s something new to learn about growing different kinds of plants, growing in different climates, or dealing with new pests. If you’re just starting out and contemplating planting a tomato, rose, or petunia, don’t be intimidated.  Trial and error are the best ways to learn. For example, I tried multiple ways to rid my yard of moles. I tried baits, traps, and even vibrating mole repellants to no avail. It wasn’t until I tried castor oil, that I was able to convince the moles to move away. Here are some tips on getting started in the vegetable or flower garden. Follow these 5 S’s and you’ll be well on your way to a productive, beautiful garden.... More

Lifetime Products Profit Sharing
On Feb 6, 2010Lifetime Products held its 42nd bi-annual Profit Sharing Meeting. If youre like me, and dont know what profit sharing is when you first hear of it, let me explain.Profit Sharing is a program where a company shares a portion of the years profit with its employees. Lifetimes Profit Sharing meeting is also a report on the company. Both the Lifetime Products President Richard Hendrickson and Owner/CEO take the opportunity to update us on company initiatives, company goals and values, and new products. In this meeting we learned that Lifetime is still completely debt-free, and doing great after recent ...
Heat Up Your Fundraising with a Workplace Chili Cook-Off
A few weeks ago, my husbands squadron hosted their annual Chili Cook-Off. Our chili cook-off is simply an excuse for a fun get-together. But, a lunchtime chili cook-off contest is also a popular way to brew up some extra fundraising money for your organization. Follow these simple tips and your fundraiser will be easy as banging a pot. Find Your CooksMake a sign-up sheet for people to participate in the cook-off. If you are going to invite the public or other organizations to attend, consider recruiting local politicians and business leaders to make a pot of their favorite chili. Find Your JudgesIf you are keeping your contest within your workplace, simply draw names out of a hat to pick impartial judges. If you are hosting a more public event, ask well-known community leaders to lend a hand, or actually tongue, to your ev...
