When approaching the idea of writing a blog post about Lifetime’s powder-coating process and why it is important, I realized that I have one of the best resources for this topic. My dad, Wendell, is an engineer and has been with Lifetime Products for 15 years. About 6 years ago, he helped completely re-design our powder-coating system to make it more efficient for the company. He is an expert on this topic. So I sat down with my dad and interviewed him to find out why powder-coating is so important, what the process is, and why we use it on our metal parts. Here are some of the answers I got about our powder-coating process at Lifetime Products. Q: Why does Lifetime use powder-coating? A: Powder-coating puts a durable, long-lasting finish on our metal parts. If you are looking for a nice, paint finish, powder-coating ... More

I love the autumn. The trees are changing colors, the heat of summer is gone. The garden is growing "cool weather crops" again. And, BackyardsInc.com (the website for the Official Lifetime Products Outlet Store) just got a major overhaul! Okay, honestly, why should you care about us re-releasing one of our websites? Simply put, we make our websites for you! In this revision of the site, we started from the ground-up, building the site with ASP.NET MVC2, HTML5, CSS3, and even a custom JqueryUI theme thrown in. All this equates to a faster website that takes less time to load, can display more information in a much more timely fashion, and takes advantages of all the current standards on the web. Product videos, buy online links, and even assembly instructions are now available at your finger tips. Don't take my word ... More

This contest has ended.  Autumn is finally here… a great time for composting all of those falling leaves that are piling up in your yard.   What?  You don't have a composter? Well, you just happen to be in luck because this month we're giving away a Lifetime  Composter to one lucky random winner!  The Lifetime Composter is an 80-gallon tumbler-style composter constructed of black, double-walled, high-density polyethylene panels to absorb and retain the heat that decomposes the mixture inside.  An internal mixing bar allows the flow of oxygen that is necessary to break down the mixture into rich, organic fertilizer. The Lifetime Composter easily turns on its axis for balanced rotation—saving you the effort of turning a compost heap with a pitchfork. You'll also appreciate the ex... More

On Oct. 7th and 8th, Lifetime Products hosted their 6th annual employee Health Fair. Bringing a wide variety of companies and vendors to the Freeport Center, this event gives Lifetime employees the opportunity to explore various health related topics and ask questions about company benefits. This year, Lifetime's Health Fair focused on being prepared at home, work, and in the community for disasters and other life situations. Featuring food storage and first aid stations to nutritional information and health screenings, the Health Fair had various booths and vendors available to educate employees on preparedness. As we welcome in the Fall season, we have to farewell the outdoor entertaining season… at least in most parts of the country.  For those of you gearing up for cold and snowy winters, it's time to start packing up your outdoor areas including your pool, patio, deck, and yard.  In the next few weeks, plan to cover the pool, clean the grill, and put away everything you won’t need again until next summer. Unfortunately, all the things that live in your yard and on your patio during the summer suddenly now need a winter home.  What to do with so much stuff?  Well, first of all, sort through everything and determine if you really need to keep it.  Often times outdoor items quickly get tattered, faded, and broken by the end of the summer and it's better to simply trash it.  Or, if it'... This past Saturday, October 9, Lifetime Products employees met at Clearfield City’s Steed Park for Lifetime’s 5th Annual Local Community Service Project. What a sight! More than 800 employees were busy laying sod, trimming trees, leveling baseball diamonds, picking up trash, and much more, to beautify and improve the 23-acre Steed Park for local residents.   It was a great experience working together outside of our normal everyday jobs to do something to give back and help improve our local community.  It was also a true team effort.  Everyone pitched in to help in some way or another... even Lifetime President Richard Hendrickson was busy trimming trees by the pond.  Me?  I rolled up my sleeves to help stain the pavilion which was a little mes... A few months ago, I posted some photos to show you a comparison of the size of Lifetime chairs to a typical folding chair.  So, today, I thought I'd go ahead and show you how a Lifetime Card Table compares to a typical card table. First of all, what you may not realize, without having two card tables to compare side-by-side, is that a typical card table is 34" square while the Lifetime card table is actually 37".  As you can see by the photo, this provides quite a bit of extra useable surface area.  This extra space certainly comes in handy when I seat four people around the table to eat, piece together large puzzles, and more.  And, don't worry, the table is still lightweight and easy to carry at just 19lbs. Speaking of weight…the Lifetime card table is engineered for superior strength and durabi... More

BuyLifetime.com, Lifetime's Official Online Store, has been doing business for many years, letting customers (like you!) buy direct for the manufacturer. Over the years as technology has changed, our product catalog has gotten larger, and even more information has been added about our products — all to help you find the information that you want before making a purchase — we even have product videos online for you. We've built the site with standards in mind, which has let our site work on a wide variety of web browsers and operating systems. And then everything changed!! People started getting cell phones with the Internet on them! Luckily for us, these devices generally came with up-to-date web browsers (the Apple iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad; and phones powered by Android). Our site looked pretty ... More

Indoors at the Outdoor
For the past several years our company has participated in the Annual Outdoor Retailer Show at the Salt Palace in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. You’ll find the show filled with aisle after aisle of camping gear, climbing gear, custom water craft, outdoor apparel and the like. This year at our booth you would have also found our sweet Fold-Up Utility Trailer and our convertible Yard Cart. But anyone who’s been to a trade show knows that besides touting your own wares, half of the reason you’re there is to see what everyone else is doing. So while meandering through the multitude of retailers just trying to keep up on relevant trends, I happened across some of our tables. A configuration of several card tables made for a very practical and common use of our product – a convenient meeting area to discuss the business of the day....

Corporate Semi-Annual Meeting Reveals Growth and Changes
This summers semi-annual company meeting was a brand new experience for me. Over past years here at Lifetime, all employees have had the opportunity to hear about the progress and state of the company. And since Lifetime is a privately-owned company, its important that the employees are directly involved! What was amazing was the opening part of the meeting where we saw how the company has been featured and showcased in public relations this year. From a spotlight on The Price is Right where our kayaks were a showcase prize, to thelocalnews where the work done in our metals and plastics factories took the front stage, to our service project at the Utah State University Botanical Center, and so much more. I could see that we definitely made waves this year! And these features on Lifetime are only the beginning. After hearing a...
