So this might not be news for many of you, we’re on Twitter! If you already know what Twitter is you can follow us over there: @LifetimeJoe and @Lifetime365. For those of you who don’t know what Twitter is: In short, Twitter lets you answer the question “what are you doing?” and share it with your friends. Real life happens between blog posts and email. Twitter is a social media network that lets its users post short messages (up to 140 characters). People (“tweeps” or “tweeple”) can then search those posts (called “tweets”) for keywords, and can “follow” people that write stuff that interests them. You can also post your own tweets for your own tweeps to read. But this isn’t an advertisement for Twitter. What we’d like... More

Over the years, many of my friends and family have asked me why Lifetime doesn’t have the NBA logo on their basketball hoops.  Well, the answer is simple.  Money.  To have the NBA logo on Lifetime backboards, it would cost money. A lot of money.  Money that Lifetime chooses to instead put into the actual quality of their products.  Whether it’s using that money for more research, new manufacturing equipment, or improved materials, the end result is a higher quality product for you. As a former employee, I can assure you that this philosophy carries through all aspects of Lifetime.  You won’t find any lavish corporate offices at the Lifetime Products headquarters in Clearfield, Utah.  No marble floors, revolving doors, or plush corner offices with beautiful wraparound ... I sure hope you had a fun fourth of July!  We had a great weekend, but we didn't do anything special or festive other than watch fireworks.  Kind of sad... especially since our tradition, when we lived in Arizona, was to host a pool party and BBQ at our house every Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day.  We'd invite our four closet friends and spend the day playing 3-on-3 volleyball and then the guys would throw down a serious game of hoops with our Lifetime Poolside basketball/volleyball system.  Let's get something straight.  I'm not talking about a leisurely game where you splash around in the pool and daintily tap the ball over the net or into the hoop for fear of knocking down the flimsy goal.  I'm talking about a game of volleyball where you actually have to jump up to... I recently came across this article on Kasi Good's blog, and liked it so much, I asked if we could share it here! So here it is, a cool and functional makeover for your Lifetime Table: "I am addicted to chalkboard paint... It's true. We had the kids computer and art stuff on this hideous lifetime table. It was covered in paint, since I routinely use it for painting furniture or picture frames or whatever else I decide to slather paint on. I decided it couldn't get any worse, so I rolled on a couple coats of black chalkboard paint! Now, I may as well be honest and tell you that it's not going to last forever. I can envision one of them realizing that if they try hard enough they can scratch the paint off and that will be the end of it. But it will be fun while it lasts. EDIT: I ended up stripping off t... WARNING! This isn’t going to be your typical Lifetime365 blog post. It’s going to be a bit more technical, and a lot more geeky, but don’t let that scare you off. I’ll try and walk you through it. To start things off, you should know that I’m a computer geek, I’ll admit it. What I’m going to tell you now is something that us geeks have known about for a long, long time, but something that you “normal” people probably don’t know about – and even if you do, you’re probably not using it this way. What is this “secret technology” of which I speak? It’s called RSS feeds. RSS is an acronym. I’d tell you what it stands for but people have been arguing over that since it first came out. Then “ATOM feeds” came along. All of th... More

The Great Wheelbarrow Showdown
The TaskSpread six yards of compost on our lawn. Since this was going to be some serious yard work, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to test the new Lifetime Wheelbarrow and Lifetime Yard Cart to see how they stack up against a traditional wheelbarrow. The Traditional WheelbarrowI started off by hauling one load of dirt with a traditional wheelbarrow with one wheel. I filled it full with 35 shovels of dirt. Right away, when I went to pick it up, it started to tip sideways on me and I really had to work to keep it from falling completely over. Once I got it balanced, I could push it pretty easily, but it was a constant struggle to maintain stability. Then came the tipping test. I pushed the wheelbarrow over, but had no control how far over it tipped. So, needless to say, I ended up with a large pile of dirt when ...
Table Clips for Lifetime Tables - Two Packs for the Price of One!
Out of the blue, two people have mentioned table clips to me in the past few weeks. It's not exactly a popular conversation topic or product, so I'm taking that as a sign that I should blog about them! Wanna hear something else weird...both people were named Nancy. Good thing I'm not superstitious. :) My aunt Nancy was telling me how her friend was looking for table clips to fit her Lifetime table to hold her material in place for quilting. Hmmm...clever idea for you quilter's out there, huh?! And, one of our blog readers, said she was looking for table clips to fit her Lifetime tables that she uses in her restaurant with skirting on them. Just so you know, the edges of most Lifetime banquet tables are thicker than traditional wooden folding banquet tables, which makes it a little harder to find clips that fit properly. But...
