When I was visiting my parents at their condo in Port Aransas last week, I happened to snap a picture of the condo building's social room.  It's not that it was super attractive or decorated beautifully (or even decorated at all!) but, it was filled with nothing but Lifetime tables and chairs!  Yep, that was it.  Four plain walls, seven Lifetime 6' banquet tables, and numerous Lifetime chairs.  The tables and chairs are used every Monday morning when the residents gather to eat breakfast, and at various other times for potlucks, game nights, etc.  Many residents also borrow the Lifetime chairs to use in their own condos.  My Mom borrowed two so she could have extra seating at the dining table since it only came with four chairs.  And, she also used the Lifetime chairs at her sewing table. ... Plastic storage sheds are a must-have for anyone that has a yard. Storage sheds in general help you to keep your tools and other “yard stuff” organized, out of the weather, and out of the yard. Bags of compost or fertilizer store well in a weather-proof shed, and if you lock your outdoor storage shed these potentially harmful bags can be stored out of reach of children, pets, or vandals. Lifetime plastic garden sheds have some distinct benefits over traditional stick-framed sheds, and don’t even get me started about flimsy metal sheds. Wood sheds need to be maintained to keep them safe from the elements. Walls and doors need to be scraped and painted somewhat frequently to keep the exterior weather-tight, shingles need to be replaced every so often. Insects and rodents love wood, it’s a natural elem... More

Deep breath.  Looong slow exhale. Ok, I think I’m mentally ready to unwind from my spring break vacation and start writing.  As much as my parents deny it, they’re becoming Ohio snowbirds.  For the past two years they’ve packed their mini van full and moved to Texas for the month of March.  They rent a condo right on the beach in Port Aransas on Mustang Island.  I am very blessed that they choose to come to Texas rather than Florida so they can spend quality time with me.  Ok, who am I kidding, we all know it’s for the quality time with my kids, not me!  :) So, last week we headed to Port Aransas for spring break week to visit my parents.   Spring break at Port Aransas is… well, different.  I did the whole spring break trip to South Padre Islan... When I was a little girl, my Grandpa made me a very special keepsake gift...a handmade wooden dollhouse, complete with shingles cut from sandpaper.  Well, just like a real house roof has to be replaced about every 20 years, evidently so does a dollhouse roof!  After our four moves, (ok, and 30 years of sun damage, dust, and wear-and-tear!) the dollhouse roof was about 10 years past its prime.  The sandpaper shingles were curling up and literally falling off.  My Dad and I have been wanting to replace them for several years now, but we've just never got around to it whenever he came to visit from out-of-state.  This weekend my parents were here and it was a cold, rainy weekend with not much to do.  So, my Dad and I FINALLY started the dollhouse roof replacement project.  My Dad's fathe... I’ve written about the Lifetime Wheelbarrow in a couple of my posts (here and here), it really is a wonderful thing. Some readers have asked me if Lifetime has anything suited for larger projects or larger properties where a wheelbarrow (though effective) is inefficient. The answer is a wholehearted YES! Lifetime makes a small utility trailer and yard cart that works both as a cart and a trailer that you can pull behind an ATV or riding mower. The Yard Cart’s heavy-duty, extra-large tub can hold 10-cubic feet, is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic materials, and can haul up to 650 pounds. Let’s see your old wheelbarrow do that!         Now available with FREE SHIPPING from BuyLifetime.com. More

My son started taking swimming lessons a few weeks ago at a new swim school that just opened by our house.  I must say, for a 5-year-old he does really well!  He's known how to kind of swim for several years, but we're hoping this new class will help perfect his stroke so he is proficient and completely independent for this summer's swim season.  The place where he takes swimming lessons has a pretty thorough system of checks and balances to ensure each child completes the necessary skills in each level. They have an instructor that monitors the swim teacher and student during the lesson and evaluates if the skill is mastered.  After the skill is mastered, it is recorded in a logbook and marked off on the child's wristband. I was happy to see when I walked in the first day that they use a Lifetime 4-foot... More

Look out the window, spring is here… time to get digging, planting, transplanting, and hauling… wait, hauling? Yup, you’re going to have to move all that compost, all those pavers and blocks, potted shrubs, soil, bags of fertilizer, mountains of mulch… the list goes on and on, but it all needs to be done, and let’s face it, packing it my hand just isn’t a viable option! That’s where wheelbarrows come in to play. Sometimes called a “garden cart” or “garden wagon”, a wheelbarrow fills a much needed role in any backyard or landscaping project. Wheelbarrows help carry more per load, and help carry even very heavy items. But that’s where traditional wheelbarrows fall short. Traditional wheelbarrows typically have one wheel at the front of the basket, leav... More

I may not be quite as sharp as the CSI team, but my keen eyes did spot several Lifetime tables and chairs on last week's CSI:NY "Turbulence" episode!  (A rerun BTW.)  Some companies pay BIG bucks to get ideal product placement (meaning actually using or showing the product) in movies and TV shows.  You know, like how all the American Idol judges have a giant Coca-Cola cup sitting in front of them every show!?  But, sometimes, a company is fortunate enough to have its product used just because it is the ideal product for a scene. I'm always watching the background shots of various shows, especially home improvement shows, to see if they use Lifetime tables.  Every once in a while, I catch a glimpse of one.  But, the folding tables and chairs in this CSI: NY episode were pretty har... The 6415 shed Shed is an 11-foot by 13.5-foot outdoor storage shed unlike anything you’ve seen before. It’s made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that looks like wood siding and traditional shingles, but HDPE never rots, never has insect problems, never needs painting, and you’ll never need to re-shingle. But the 6415 shed shed isn’t a “plastic shed” by any stretch of the imagination. The 6415 shed shed has a powder-coated, rust resistant steel frame and rafters. It has lockable front-doors, windows, gable vents, and “attic storage,” and modular accessory system, the 6415 shed shed is a revolution in backyard storage. The 6415 shed sheds is available with free shipping from BuyLifetime.com. More

BuyLifetime.com has generally sold only products manufactured by Lifetime Products, but Lifetime has always been about more than just tables, chairs, sheds and organization, and basketball hoops, Lifetime was founded on the principles of family fun and togetherness. Lifetime adjustable tables are a dream come true for anyone who needs something other than the standard table height. Lifetime adjustable tables work well in arts and crafts as well as preschool and kindergarten environments, and anywhere you want to change the height of your work surface. Since theyre not wood they wont rot, and because the metal used is powder-coated theyre strong, yet rust-resistant. Lifetime adjustable tables are available with free shipping from BuyLifetime.com.
Cold Weather Gardening
Gardening in Vermont, I know about cold weather. The growing season is short and intense. I dont dare go away in May or early June, because if I dont get everything planted, I may miss the opportunity to get annual plants in the ground soon enough so they produce before a fall frost. Then theres September and October when frost can come at any time. Yes, its a crazy place to garden, but Ive learned some great tips over the years to make the gardening easier and more productive. Here are some of my best tips: Build the Soil- With the short growing season and cool temperatures, the soil needs to be in tiptop shape to produce the best annual flowers and vegetables. I like to add a 1- to 2-inch thick deep layer of compost on my beds every spring and work it in. Its cheapest to buy the compost in bulk from a garden center or have...
Table Washing Can Be " Eggstremely" Fun
Happy Easter! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful, special day. Yesterday we finally managed to find time to let the kids dye Easter eggs just in time for the Easter bunny to hide them this morning. My kids had been begging me to do this for days so I knew they were going to be wound up and over-anxious for the activity. I wasnt too keen on the thought of dye possibly getting spilled on my kitchen rug. So, since the weather was absolutely gorgeous, I grabbed my Lifetime Personal Table and egg dyeing supplies and we headed outside where messes are always welcome. I placed the little cups of dye on the kids picnic table and I set my Lifetime Personal Table at the lowest height right next to the picnic table to hold the rest of the supplies so the kids would have plenty of room to move around. They had fun coloring their nam...
