Occasionally our family likes to take a time out from our usual dinner routine and enjoy something unique from a culture different than ours.  Last week, since Chinese New Year was in full swing, we thought it would be a great opportunity to enjoy a part of the rich Chinese culture.  Oftentimes we celebrate with extended family or a couple of families in our neighborhood but this year we decided to try something a little more trouble-free and just celebrated with our little family.  We started by bringing one of our Lifetime 6 foot folding banquet tables up from the basement and placing it (with the legs unfolded) on a couple of short storage bins.  This allowed the table to sit about 18 inches from the ground.  Although sitting on the floor isn’t necessarily a dining practice in the Chinese cul... Anyone who’s done their share of yard work or gardening knows that short of a good, sharp shovel, nothing beats a good, strong wheel barrow. According to Wikipedia, wheelbarrows are “a small hand-propelled vehicle, usually with just one wheel, designed to be pushed and guided by a single person using two handles to the rear … . It is designed to distribute the weight of its load between the wheel and the operator so enabling the convenient carriage of heavier and bulkier loads than would be possible were the weight carried entirely by the operator.” The old design had one wheel up-front and an awkward “dump pivot” – both of which made the old models prone to tipping. Lifetime Products thought you’d suffered with the old kind of wheelbarrows long enough and set about revolut... More

Basketball poles are a necessary evil. You've got to get the rim up there some how, but running into a pole doesn't feel very good. It should go without saying that you should avoid running in to the pole if at all possible. Professional teams put pads on their poles, now you can, too, with the Lifetime Basketball Pole Pad, the Reebok 4 X 4 Pole Pad, and the Mammoth Pole Pad.   The game doesn't end just because the sun goes down. The Mammoth Light Kit provides illumination so your game can continue long after dark. These court lights are constructed from weather-resistant, powder-coated steel with bright halogen bulbs that are encased by protective covers.   These aren’t your neighbor’s wimpy basketball setup, these are Lifetime’s high-quality Basketball Systems. As a Utah native I am allowed to harp on Utah all I want. I do enjoy living here, but Utah has some funny quirks about it. Did you know Utahans eat more Jell-O per capita than anywhere else in the world? Not to mention the weird weather. We can have warm and sunny one day and a blizzard the next or even in the same day. When I was younger I actually snow skied and water skied in the same day. Weird weather was the case about a week ago when my wife and I decided to make a trip down to IKEA. As my loyal readers would know, all two of you, (thanks Mom, thanks Aunt Clara), I have been remodeling the basement for what seems like a lifetime. (No pun intended) We now have all of the major work complete and are starting to furnish it. The first priority was getting the kid’s toys organized so they could use the space to play... More

King Arthur used round tables in his court as a symbol of equality, that even he, as King, was an equal to the Knights in his court. Maybe that’s why Lifetime round tables are so popular! Lifetime round tables are generally easier to move around than square or rectangular tables, you simply fold them up, and wheel them away. Not only that, Lifetime round tables typically can seat more people and have more available work-space than your typical card table, without taking up any more space to store. Lifetime round tables are ideal for garage sales, scrapbooking, photo-albums, game night, special occasions, church functions, banquets, and even Sunday dinner. Several models, colors, sizes, and options are available. Head on over to BuyLifetime.com and pick out your Lifetime round table today! More

I Mulch, You Mulch, We All Mulch
This past Saturday was yard day at our house. Nine solid hours of pruning trees, trimming bushes, pulling weeds, planting flowers, and spreading mulch. (Why didnt someone remind me that my hamstrings will be extremely sore from bending over all day. Its been two days and I still cant sit down without using my arms to lower myself!) Its the project we tackle every spring. I actually look forward to it. I love being outdoors and feeling productive. (Of course, that enthusiasm quickly fades after the first few hours which is why we plow through it all in one day.) Our backyard has several forests as my kids call them, which are really just large clusters of trees with mulch around them. Very pretty, but itrequires a lot of mulch - over three yards (or pick-up trucks full) to be exact. This year, we turned the mulching into a f...
How Much Weight Can My Folding Table Hold?
One of the most frequently asked questions I hear at Lifetime as a member of the Tables Chairs team is: "How much weight will this folding table hold?" That's a pretty loaded question, no pun intended. You would think the answer would be pretty cut-and-dry. Truth is, it's actually quite complicated. But, as part of my continuing series on what features to look for when picking the perfect folding table, today I'm going to help answer that question while helping you understand why durability is so important to consider when buying a folding table. So, as a shopper, where should you start to try and figure out which table is strong enough for your needs? First, before you purchase a folding table, think about what you primarily want to use the table for. Paper crafts may not require as much durability as a table at a construc...
What is Blow Molding?
Blow molding. You hear us say it over-and-over again when we talk about our products. But, what does that really mean? In case you don't know, today I'll give you a quick explanation and show you a few photos to, hopefully, help you understand the process of blow molding a little better. Every plastic product that Lifetime makes starts as white plastic pellets, like in this picture. These pellets are hauled in on train cars to our factory. We usenearly 400train cars of pellets per year! The plastic pellets are then pumped to our outdoor silos and then to the building silos. (If you live near our factory in Utah, you may have noticed a new Lifetime logo towering in the skies. The logo is on our newest silo that stores these plastic pellets.) The plastic pellets are then heated by pressure and colored pellets are added at thi...
