What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving? My wife’s favorite part is going shopping! I find more satisfaction in staying home, eating too much, and watching football, but, to each their own. I went one year with my wife and after I got beat by a bunch of spry and motivated ladies while trying to get some sheets, I decided to retire from Black Fridaying (is that even a word?). My goal is to help you know where you can find our products. With so many different retailers carrying our products, I wanted to help you wade through the mess. If you’re looking for a new basketball hoop, Sports Authority, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Big 5, and Walmart have hoops on sale. You can get a 50" Portable Basketball Hoop at Dick’s Sporting Goods. At Sports Authority, you can get a hoop ranging from one of our youth hoops... More
Bill Cosby had it right. Yes, many of us dads are the “fun ones,” the “jokesters,” and the “dress up dolls.” There are fathers all over the world “who get things they can’t use and . . . don’t want.” With Father’s Day coming up I wanted to offer some suggestions for things that Dad actually wants: Want – Deck Box. Give dad a Lifetime Deck Box so he has somewhere to quickly put away all of the kid’s toys left on the lawn. Keep them safe so he doesn't hit them with the lawn mower anymore. So, really . . . it’s a gift that keeps giving. Don’t Want – Another light-up, pink, paisley, or superhero tie. It’s just another burp rag for the baby to spit up on. Want – New shed to store all the yard tools in. You know ... More
Recreational kayaking is a fun and safe way for the whole family to enjoy the outdoors. Many people are a little apprehensive when they hear the word "kayaking." They imagine people dropping off of 20 foot waterfalls and paddling through big wavy rapids. But that isn’t the only way to kayak. In fact, the largest segment of kayaking is within the recreational sector. What is recreational kayaking? Recreational kayaking refers to paddling on flat water lakes, bays, slow-moving calm river ways, and calm oceans. No rapids involved! Flat-water paddling is a safe way to enjoy the water. Another misconception about kayaking is the Eskimo roll, which is another aspect of kayaking that only applies to whitewater or sea kayaking. Recreational kayaks are not meant to roll and ... More
Another year of Outdoor Retailer (OR) has come and gone. For those of you who don’t know what OR is, it is the largest outdoor industry trade show in the whole world! It is held in our backyard in downtown Salt Lake City. This year, we also had the industry Demo Day in our backyard as well because it was moved from Jordenelle Reservoir to Pineview Reservoir in Ogden Valley! We spent all day on the beautiful banks of Pineview paddling and talking to folks from all over the world. We were super busy and had tons of people stop by to give our boats a test run! What a day! After Demo Day, the indoor show begins. We spend months preparing and designing both our booth and new kayaks to unveil at the show. This year we went all out, even more than we have in the past. ... These days, taking a family on a vacation is no easy feat. Not financially and not logistically. It requires money, planning, and time! But it is totally worth it! Times are changing and so are vacation options. You don’t need to go to Disney Land to have a great family experience. Why not plan a vacation around kayaking? Almost anywhere there is water, there is someone who rents kayaks. But, if you have your own, that is great! There are so many great paddling destinations in the United States it would take forever to list them all. The best part about a kayaking vacation is that you often get to experience a new place or situation that so many others don’t get to! Kayaking out to a secret cove, or down a calm moving river in a desolate canyon are all g... More
Father's Day is almost here. If you’re like me, you are always rushing around trying to figure out what to do for Dad at the last minute. For years I always based my Father’s Day gifts on two things, fish and sports. My dad either gets the latest “Jets” (don’t hold it against him) football team sweatshirt or a nice wooden fish decoration to hang on the wall. Since these were always my dad’s favorite activities, this always seemed like the best route, until he ran out of wall space for all those wooden fish decorations. I’m sure I’m not the only one at there who has a dad that loves fishing. I mean loves it. You know, the dad who gets up at 4am so he can get out on the water . The dad who has more fishing rods than pairs of pants. ... More
Memorial Day has past and summer’s had its unofficial start! As the weather heats up and the kids finish up the school year, we are all in need of a vacation. These days, taking that one big trip to Orlando or hopping on a cruise to the islands can put a big hurting on the old wallet. Many people are choosing smaller and more frequent vacations. And lets be honest, who doesn’t want more vacations? I know I do. Here at Lifetime, we wonder, why can’t every weekend be a vacation? Oh, but it can!! Having a few kayaks laying around for the family can make it easy, affordable and fun to stay closer to home this summer. You can head to your local lake one weekend and the next weekend do a river float. The options are endless! You won’t b... More
Last year I wanted to come up with something original for a Mother’s Day gift. I didn’t want to go with the traditional flowers, birdhouses, or candy. Showing her how much she means to me and how much I appreciate everything she does is really important. I racked my brain for days trying to come up with something creative, something different and something that could be enjoyed for more than just one day a year. What would surprise her? What could I do that she wouldn’t expect? Then it hit me! A kayak!! When Mother’s Day arrived she was never more excited! Instantly she began listing off all the places she could go and how jealous all her friends would be. I think the thing she liked the most was that now we could go out kay... More
For most people, when they think about kayaking, they think of a day trip to the local lake. Maybe a vacation day spent floating on the ocean, watching the birds and listening to the calm ocean ripples. While these trips are great, with just a bit more effort, you can really turn a kayaking trip into a fun filled outdoor adventure. What better way to bond with your family or a group of friends then to be outside, away from all the electronic distractions, kayaking and camping in the wilderness. There are several ways to enjoy a camping and kayak trip. Some rivers flow through campgrounds, parks or national forest land allow camping right along the banks of the rivers. This type of trip can be great for a weekend get-a-way. Day one is spent paddling a few miles to ... More
This spring, our watersports department has done something we never have before! We are coming out with a limited edition paddleboard. Sure, this will be the Freestyle XL board we all know and love but there is something that makes it special; its Purple! Not only is this our first limited edition kayak or paddleboard, it is also our first purple one! In total, there will be 325 Purple Freestyle XL’s out there for the lucky few who can get there hands on one. I am personally a huge fan of purple, and I think this board looks great. It has all the great characteristics of our other color boards; stability, buoyancy, padding, bungee straps and two fins. The dark purple color really blends well with the black bungees and confetti white and black foam. It really pops and looks incredibly styl... More
I picked up my sons registration packet for kindergarten yesterday. (Still cant believe my baby is going to kindergarten. Sniff, sniff. But, thats a story for another day!) Geez, how many forms can they make us fill out? So overwhelming and seemingly redundant in many ways. Amongst the huge stack of papers, guidelines, and forms was the obligatory school supply list. Wow, so much for just needing to buy a backpack, pencils, and notebook anymore, huh? The kindergarten supply list has nearly 20 items on it! Crazy! Personally, I was one of those nerdy kids that always got fired up about back to school time because, being the organizer that I am, I couldnt wait to pick out all of my new school supplies, especially my new Trapper Keeper! Ironically though, my husband came home from the store just the other day and said he saw the...

As a kid, my summers were always lazy and unstructured. My sisters and I were always sent outside in the morning, and the day was spent trying to find activities to do. My point is, summer is here and it's the perfect time to purchase some Lifetime playground equipment. One of my kids favorite games to play on our playset at home is Fish Out of Water. I sit with my eyes closed, and if I think one of my kids are off the playset I yell, Fish out of water! If they get caught, we switch and they have to try and catch me. Kids love to get a break from school during the summer, and we love our Lifetime playset. The best place for imaginative play and exercise is the safety of your own backyard. The great thing about Lifetime is our playsets are made to last. The equipment stands up to the wear and tear of your children. Also, Lif...
What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving? My wife’s favorite part is going shopping! I find more satisfaction in staying home, eating too much, and watching football, but, to each their own. Halloween is such a fun time of year! Who doesn’t love costumes, face paint, spooky decorations – and my personal favorite – pumpkin carving?! So last night, my husband and I set out on our pumpkin carving adventure. My husband not only carves pumpkins, but he is amazing at shaving in faces, and doing all sorts of cool stuff. Over the years, he has helped me get more and more into it as well. Since I knew this was going to get pretty messy, I didn’t really want to use my wooden kitchen table, so I decided to pull out my trusty 4-Foot Fold-In-Half Lifetime Table. We live in a smaller apartment, so this is the perfect table for us. It is super easy to store and ...
