Happy Manufacturing Day! You might be wondering, why are we so excited to celebrate Manufacturing Day? Because that’s what we do! For over 25 years, we’ve worked to turn raw steel coils and plastic pellets into products each of us can use everyday! I’ve been a supporter of Lifetime for years. Long before I ever worked here. My basketball hoop growing up was a Lifetime hoop. My parents always pulled out their Lifetime tables and chairs when we had a get together. That’s what we do at Lifetime. We make stuff for you to use every day! We are proud and passionate about manufacturing awesome products. Manufacturing is such an important part of American society. It is a source of millions of jobs and the products we all use every day. Today has even received some involvement from President Obama. Yesterday,... More

During this time of the year with all the barbeques, fireworks, apple pies, and small-town parades that feature one lame local advertisement after another (did I just say that?),  it’s easy to look over the reason for the wonderful holiday we’ve reduced to “The 4th of July,” or INDEPENDENCE DAY as I prefer to call it. This is a great country. Not only have any of my grandparents and long-past relatives fought for the freedoms and liberty we have, but I’ve been blessed with the ability to be raised in this beautiful country—diverse and unique as it is. From the very beginning, it’s been a country of promise and opportunity for many—and, from our founding, Lifetime Products has been a proud American manufacturer. Like many before us, and during our beginnings, we started o... More

Not everyday can you say you know a genius. And, I feel lucky enough to say I do! A few weeks ago, The Bateman IP Group in Utah hosted the annual Utah Genius Awards at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City and thanks to the creative collaboration of our research and development team, Lifetime was honored, yet again as one of the top companies with the most patents issued in 2012—with 22 new patents! Mitch Johnson accepted this award along with our very own, Wendell Peery, who was also recognized for being one of the top 20 people in Utah with the most patents issued in 2012—with 11 patents! These awards are based on patent statistics and serve as Utah’s prime program for recognizing and honoring the brilliant minds and innovative companies that drive Utah’s economy. Randall B. Bateman, founder o... More

Well, the election is over! Now, the real work begins. Here in Utah, Governor Herbert was re-elected to a second term. And during his acceptance speech, he mentioned empowering the private sector to grow the economy and how Utah is doing better than about any place in America. To learn more about the manufacturing private sector, Governor Herbert actually toured our factory here in the Freeport Center last week. He first met briefly with our president, Richard Hendrickson, to gain insight on how government can better help Utah manufacturing companies and then he addressed a small group of Lifetime employees saying, “Lifetime Products is a great example of a homegrown Utah business competing successfully in a global marketplace. Their commitment to innovation and providing quality products keeps hundreds of Utahns employ... More

Man, how time flies! It’s been almost six months since our annual service project with the Utah Botanical Center. If you aren’t aware, every year around one thousand Lifetime employees give back to the local community by participating in our community service project. It’s something I look forward to each year and this year was no different; we helped clean and beautify the Utah State University Botanical Center in Kaysville, Utah. I’ve had the chance to stop by a couple times since the service project in May and was amazed at how much we accomplished. I also spoke to Dave Anderson from the USU Botanical Center to get a quick update on our main project at the service project, the Food Bank Garden we planted. The garden is used to teach individuals about gardening and the harvested items are donated to ... More

We did it again! Back in 1998, Lifetime revolutionized the folding table industry by inventing the first blow-molded folding banquet table.  The tables were lighter and stronger than traditional wooden folding tables.  Our invention made heavy, wooden folding tables practically obsolete as blow-molded tabletops became the new market standard.  Today, I'm excited to introduce to you Lifetime's new line of stackable folding tables - the biggest innovation in the folding table industry since our original invention!  Why is this new design such a big deal?  Several reasons.  First, the new Lifetime 6-Foot Stackable Folding Table features an innovative nesting design that allows multiple tables to easily be stacked together for space saving... Have you ever set a really difficult goal? We have. Our goal is to earn The Shingo Prize. “The Shingo Prize,” you say? The Shingo Prize is awarded to organizations that demonstrate a culture where principles of operational excellence are deeply embedded into the thinking and behavior of all leaders, managers, and associates. So, what’s the “big deal?” What makes this Shingo Prize so important?  The Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence is a non-profit organization housed at Utah State University and named after Japanese engineer Shigeo Shingo.  Dr. Shingo is one of the world’s foremost leaders in concepts, management systems, and improvement techniques that have become known as the Toyota Business System, originally implemented by Toyota.  The goal of The Shingo Prize is ... Lifetime's EcoHousing Initiative - Mass-Produced Shelters for Disaster Relief
Two weeks ago, Lifetime unveiled its latest product - the EcoHouse. Just so you know, this isnt our normal type of product that is available for consumers to purchase in retail stores. Nope, the Lifetime EcoHouse will be manufactured and distributed to provide housing for impoverished or disaster-stricken areas. Pretty cool, huh? So, what makes this shelter so revolutionary? Well, first off, its a 377 sq ft building that ships on four pallets and can be assembled in only 72 man hours. And, it can be built with sustainable electric, plumbing, and waste management - which means households have no need to pay for utilities! Perfect for disaster-stricken and impoverished areas. The shelter can be configured in multiple ways for use as a four-room home, a school, clinic, dining area, or meeting area. Why are we calling it the E...
Corporate Semi-Annual Meeting Reveals Growth and Changes
This summers semi-annual company meeting was a brand new experience for me. Over past years here at Lifetime, all employees have had the opportunity to hear about the progress and state of the company. And since Lifetime is a privately-owned company, its important that the employees are directly involved! What was amazing was the opening part of the meeting where we saw how the company has been featured and showcased in public relations this year. From a spotlight on The Price is Right where our kayaks were a showcase prize, to thelocalnews where the work done in our metals and plastics factories took the front stage, to our service project at the Utah State University Botanical Center, and so much more. I could see that we definitely made waves this year! And these features on Lifetime are only the beginning. After hearing a...
It’s Time to Dust off the Kayaks, It’s Summertime!
Memorial Day has past and summers had its unofficial start! As the weather heats up and the kids finish up the school year, we are all in need of a vacation. These days, taking that one big trip to Orlando or hopping on a cruise to the islands can put a big hurting on the old wallet. Many people are choosing smaller and more frequent vacations. And lets be honest, who doesnt want more vacations? I know I do. Here at Lifetime, we wonder, why cant every weekend be a vacation? Oh, but it can!! Having a few kayaks laying around for the family can make it easy, affordable and fun to stay closer to home this summer. You can head to your local lake one weekend and the next weekend do a river float. The options are endless! You wont be paying expensive entrance fees, spending hundreds of dollars on gas, or paying an arm and a leg fo...
