It’s Earth Day! The perfect time to plant a tree, start your garden, start composting to reuse material, or simply . . . take your recycling out! At Lifetime, we’re conscious of our community and our role and responsibilities to the environment around us. Did you know that our products are made with a plastic called High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)?  This type of plastic is what makes our products so durable and long-lasting. In making our HDPE products, all plastic materials not used in the initial process are reused! Not only that, but HDPE is an easily recyclable material. The other great part about producing HDPE is that it’s created using natural petroleum instead of fossil fuels, therefore making the process from start to finish, safer for all! More

Not everyday can you say you know a genius. And, I feel lucky enough to say I do! A few weeks ago, The Bateman IP Group in Utah hosted the annual Utah Genius Awards at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City and thanks to the creative collaboration of our research and development team, Lifetime was honored, yet again as one of the top companies with the most patents issued in 2012—with 22 new patents! Mitch Johnson accepted this award along with our very own, Wendell Peery, who was also recognized for being one of the top 20 people in Utah with the most patents issued in 2012—with 11 patents! These awards are based on patent statistics and serve as Utah’s prime program for recognizing and honoring the brilliant minds and innovative companies that drive Utah’s economy. Randall B. Well, the election is over! Now, the real work begins. Here in Utah, Governor Herbert was re-elected to a second term. And during his acceptance speech, he mentioned empowering the private sector to grow the economy and how Utah is doing better than about any place in America. To learn more about the manufacturing private sector, Governor Herbert actually toured our factory here in the Freeport Center last week. He first met briefly with our president, Richard Hendrickson, to gain insight on how government can better help Utah manufacturing companies and then he addressed a small group of Lifetime employees saying, “Lifetime Products is a great example of a homegrown Utah business competing successfully in a global marketplace. Their commitment to innovation and providing quality products keeps hundreds of Utahns employ... More

Man, how time flies! It’s been almost six months since our annual service project with the Utah Botanical Center. If you aren’t aware, every year around one thousand Lifetime employees give back to the local community by participating in our community service project. It’s something I look forward to each year and this year was no different; we helped clean and beautify the Utah State University Botanical Center in Kaysville, Utah. I’ve had the chance to stop by a couple times since the service project in May and was amazed at how much we accomplished. I also spoke to Dave Anderson from the USU Botanical Center to get a quick update on our main project at the service project, the Food Bank Garden we planted. The garden is used to teach individuals about gardening and the harvested items are donated to ... More

Have you ever set a really difficult goal? We have. Our goal is to earn The Shingo Prize. “The Shingo Prize,” you say? The Shingo Prize is awarded to organizations that demonstrate a culture where principles of operational excellence are deeply embedded into the thinking and behavior of all leaders, managers, and associates. So, what’s the “big deal?” What makes this Shingo Prize so important?  The Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence is a non-profit organization housed at Utah State University and named after Japanese engineer Shigeo Shingo.  Dr. Shingo is one of the world’s foremost leaders in concepts, management systems, and improvement techniques that have become known as the Toyota Business System, originally implemented by Toyota.  The goal of The Shingo Prize is ... Every summer, my church plans some sort of camping/boating outing for many reasons but mostly to have fun and enjoy each other’s company. This year was no different. We ended up on the hills of Heber City at Heber Valley Camp. Knowing I worked for Lifetime, I had several requests to bring kayaks for our day at the lake. So, I checked out the trailer with 12 Lifetime Monterrey Kayaks and we spent all day Saturday paddling around. Needless to say, Lifetime kayaks were a hit! I heard nothing but positive compliments about the boats. Many people were amazed at the stability of the kayaks. A lot of people who had never tried kayaking expected the kayaks to feel like canoes that can tip with any sudden movement. But, they’re not! Kayaks have a much wider, flatter hull than a canoe so they are a lot more stable – ... More

We all know that smoking is not good for our health. But, sometimes we pick up habits that aren’t good for us. Well, I’d like to tell you about a few Lifetime employees who have taken a huge step to improve their lives by quitting tobacco... and something big that came from it. At Lifetime, we care about our employees' health.  As part of our preventive health care programs for employees, a few months ago, we held an internal “quit tobacco” campaign so Lifetime employees who wanted to quit tobacco could attend Lunch ‘N Learns with the Davis County Health Department. Each week, they would meet to discuss their struggles and ways to help quit tobacco. From this, three of our employees were able to kick their habit and quit smoking! What an accomplishment! Because of their ... More

May 5, 2012 was not only Cinco de Mayo but also a big day here at Lifetime Products. More than 900 of my fellow Lifetime co-workers and I had the opportunity to give back to our community by participating in Lifetime’s 7th Annual Community Service Project. This year, we helped clean and beautify the Utah State University Botanical Center in Kaysville, Utah. After initial groundwork preparation by over 75 employees on Friday evening, 880 employees arrived in florescent yellow shirts (looking like tennis balls from afar) armed with gardening tools on Saturday morning and got to work by removing debris, rocks, and weeds; planting flowers, grass and trees; cleaning ponds; painting fences, bridges and gates and spreading bark to help beautify and improve the center's 1,000 acre grounds, gardens, and facilities for... Scrapping old Memories; Making New
Scrapbooking for 3 days straight maysound like a weird form of torture... but even after the paper cuts, late nights, and reeeeally early mornings,I look forward toittwice a year. My familys crazy little tradition is called "Scrapbook Weekend". If youre anything like me; you have a busy schedule, a suffering photo album, talkative friends and family, and an endlessappetite for good cooking. Scrapbook Weekend givesme the chance to learn new layouts, trade materials, or just catch-up on all my photos. Twice a year, all my aunts and cousins (about 18-20 people total) drive to my moms house with cars full photos, paper supplies, and the fixin's for some great food. We load all the food in the fridge, spread out our cutters, paper, pictures and embellishments on about 6 or 7 Lifetime tables, and camp out for 3 days stacking page...
iPhone Cases, Basketball Hoops, and Video Reviews
My husband and I made the big leap a about a month ago. We bought iPhones. I have to say, as reserved as I was about making a jump to such a trendy gadget of which I thought I wouldnt really need, I LOVE it! It is soooo user friendly and the voice control feature is astonishing. It is so cool to do a Google search just by talking to your phone, then simply tap the phone number Google pulls up to call the place you were trying to find... or tap the Google map to get GPS directions! Amazing. But, of course, we couldnt just simply purchase iPhones and be done. Oh, no. Naturally, we had to find snazzy cases, too. After running around to more than five different stores, I narrowed my choice down to the Speck Candy Shell and the iFrogz Luxe. I loved the fun two-tone colors and unmatched durability of the Candy Shell, yet the iFrog...
