Position at Lifetime Products: Former PR/Communications Manager - but ALWAYS a fan of Lifetime products!  (Katie's blog posts were written while she was Communications Manager at Lifetime.)

My favorite Lifetime Products: 4ft x 2ft fold-in-half table, 30" Personal Table, Camping table, 6' fold-in half tableRound Picnic Table, Fold-up Utility Trailer.

When coordinating Lifetime's semi-annual company meeting, I can get caught up in the details rather than appreciating the meeting for what it is. This past Saturday, as I peered from behind my laptop into a sea of more than 800 blue “25 Years” Lifetime T-shirts, it hit me. Our semi-annual meeting is a unique program— one of the few times each year when people from all shifts and departments gather together and hear company updates, see new and upcoming products, and take part in Lifetime’s Profit Sharing program. But I believe there is more to this meeting than what meets the eye... In the 45 times Lifetime has held this meeting, and the years that I have had the pleasure in taking part, I have come to realize what it means. It’s our commitment to producing high-quality products. It&rsqu... More

If you ever need help with your Lifetime product, the Lifetime Customer Care Department is always happy to help! Did you know our Customer Care Department is located in Clearfield, Utah at our factory headquarters?  So, when you have a question about one of our products, you can rest assured our customer service representatives are very familiar with our products.  In fact, as part of their training, our customer service representatives spend weeks learning about all of our products by actually assembling the products, studying printed materials, and reviewing warranties.  But, if they are faced with a puzzling question, close proximity to other departments at Lifetime ensures thorough research and a definitive response. Lately, we've been seeing a lot of people trying to reach our Customer Care Department via... More

We have great news! Mark Whiting, chief financial officer of Lifetime Products Inc, was named a CFO of the Year in the June issue of Utah Business Magazine (read all about it). Whiting was recognized for his 22-year contribution in building a “recession-proof” company, and a company that has become an international player in the sporting goods and outdoor products industry. The first time you meet Mark Whiting, you are surprised by his genuine warmth. He laughs often, listens attentively, and usually refers to himself as a “bean-counter”. When asked about being nominated for the Utah Business CFO of the Year Award, he bursts into laughter (I experienced that one myself). Though he would not say he deserves this award, the growing numbers speak for themselves …... Last summer on this blog, we wrote about one of our newest products, the Lifetime Tru-Motion™ Cane.  Here at Lifetime, we predicted this cane's breakthrough design was going to change the way we all look at canes…. and we were right!  I'm thrilled to tell you that the Lifetime Tru-Motion™ Cane was named "Best New Product" by Drug Store News. The award was bestowed recently at ECRM's Home Health Care 2011 EPPS Show and is given in recognition of the best new product invention from the more than 50 suppliers at the event.  Obviously, we are excited that we have an award-winning product.  But, we are even more excited to know that this product is truly making a difference in people's lives.  Former American Medical Association President Dr. John C. Nelson even said, "The Lif... More

You've probably already gotten this question... but how was your Memorial Day weekend? Ours was great! As you probably read in our recent post, once again Lifetime partnered with the Utah Military Families Foundation (UMFF) to celebrate Memorial Day with our annual "Salute Our Troops" event. We put on a big sale at our Lifetime Store in Riverdale, complete with a free-throw contest, free ice cream, and kids activities-- with the goal to donate 5% of all proceeds to the UMFF. It was a blast! We're excited to announce that we even surpassed last year's donation for this great organization, and raised $1,712! We are proud to have been able to contribute to a cause that helps military families in our own community.  Thank you to all veterans past and present who serve our countr... More

At Lifetime, we  strongly believe that part of our corporate responsibility as a successful business is to support our local community.  So, I am excited to tell you that this Memorial Day we will, once again, be hosting our "Salute Our Troops" event! This event will be held only at our Lifetime Store location in Riverdale, Utah.  On Memorial Day, 5 percent of our proceeds will be donated to the Utah Military Families Foundation (UMFF), a privately-funded non-profit organization headquartered at Hill Air Force Base that supports over 80,000 military families throughout Utah. Lifetime Products is honored to be neighbors with Hill Air Force Base. So, this event is a way for Lifetime to thank our local military men and women - and their families - that sacrifice so much for our community and country.  And, ... More

Recently, Lifetime participated in a program with a Northern Utah paper, the Davis County Clipper. The Clipper told us about a special program where children create advertisments for local businesses in order to win a contest. Because children are a big part of our business, the Lifetime Store locations just had to get involved!  Ask any of our store associates about kids, and they can easily tell you all the kids they have met as their families shop for playgrounds, teeter-totters, basketball hoops, and more. Everyone knows that the best place to get a playground in Utah is the Lifetime Store.  I helped to gather the entries for this contest, it was so fun to see all the entries from kids in our own community. Congrats on all the entrants! They were all ... More

It's been almost a week now, but my head is still spinning from all of our excitement last week! We started the week with a fantastic 25th Anniversary Event at our factory. Then, immediately after the event, the Lifetime Sales and Marketing Team, lead product engineers, and some leaders from other departments held their annual sales meeting. This conference is a chance for a group of us at Lifetime to communicate, review our progress from the past year, and preview what's planned for our products and business in the coming years. We present and discuss new products, new accounts, manufacturing innovations, international growth, marketing, and more. If I had to sum up this years meeting in one word, it would be: WOW! You won't believe the list of new products we are rolling o... More

We blew out the candles so it must be official… Lifetime is 25 years old!  As you know, we're celebrating all year long with sales, giveaways, and more. And, last Monday, we held a special 25 Year Anniversary Event at our factory headquarters in the Clearfield Freeport Center. Personally, I'm still amazed at how quickly we transformed a factory assembly line warehouse that was running on Friday into a trendy industrial meeting facility for the event on Monday. The place was decked out with product displays and live jazz music! Check out the pictures, pretty cool, huh?  And, yes, it was back to an assembly line by Tuesday! Nearly 400 people attended our celebration, including Lifetime's partners, suppliers, and local community leaders. Our guests of honor included Utah Lt. Gov. Greg Bell and Clearfi... More

Like 7,742,484 other people, I follow NBC's The Office on Facebook and I'm a big fan of the show. Last night's tear-jerker was a great way to say goodbye to the Michael Scott we have come to love, and begin to close their seventh season. As part of the usual Thursday night ritual, I was curled up on the couch with a bowl of dinner and my favorite throw. I think I speak for all "Office Fans" at Lifetime when I say I was SO EXCITED to see Michael Scott missing basketball shots on a Lifetime basketball hoop!   As Steve Carrell tossed the ball behind his shoulder, saying "catch you guys on the flippity flip!" he constantly shot toward a portable Lifetime basketball hoop... until he finally made it. It must have been a fun shot to produce, ... Water Balloon Fun...1...2...3...Throw!
Summer is quickly winding down. But, thankfully, August is one of the hottest months so there are still plenty of days left to squeeze in some last minute authentic summer fun. Here in Texas, its been crazy hot. Ok, insanely hot something unbelievable like 35 days over 100 degrees before August even started! I was tired of simply heading to the pool or waterpark to stay cool, so the other day I surprised my kids with some good ol fashioned water balloons. Sure, it took twice as long to fill them up as it did to throw them, but it was worth it to see the smiles on their faces and hear their giggles. My son had fun trying to throw them at me, while my daughter just liked dropping them on the grass and watching them pop. I grew up playing with water balloons by having a simple water balloon toss contest. However, my neighbor...
Small Space Entertaining
Living in a small space doesnt mean you cant entertain family and friends comfortably. With a bit of thought and preparation, you can host enjoyable gatherings no matter the size of your house or apartment. In a small space a simple approach is best, so take note of these 8 tips to get you up and running in no time. Un-clutter: Move furniture and large plants to the sides of your rooms to create more floor space. Keep it simple by removing any clutter, knick-knacks, etc. to give a more open feel. Use as much natural light as possible. Open up: If you have outdoor space like a terrace, patio, deck or small backyard, use it. Leave your patio door open and set-up a seating group or table and chairs to increase space. Fill it up: If your place will hold 10 people, invite 16-18. It is unusual for every invited guest to be able ...
